KSR's very US-centric writing style is bound to alienate and/or confuse non-US readers who are inundated with US gov't department acronyms and "wow ain't America great" asides that pop up far too frequently. Phil Chase, the Kennedyesque world's senator" and President with his "beautiful/famous smile" is a textbook example of cliche and stereotype.
