I thought this was supposed to be a Cinderella retelling. So far, there are stepsisters, an evil stepmother, and a prince who has yet to meet the heroine. I'm really not sure whether I should like this book or not. At 60% of the way through, shouldn't the story be coming together a bit more?

Okay, 2 things: I saw the twist coming from the first few pages, and also the sense of time and worldbuilding really could be improved. I can't picture this as an era of knights; it feels like the 17- or 1800s. Other than that, the banquet scene was definitely nice.
