Loved it, great character development.

Ok poor editing/writing, however you want to put it. Book one the sister's name is Varena. Book two its Serena. No mention of multiple sisters. Come on author.

Have not read book 1, but lots of background given, so okay.

This book is showing it’s publication date in how it deals with race and slut shaming. Not great.

A fight in a Burger Tycoon parking lot keeps getting mentioned, but that was not in the first book. Her fights in the first book were in her own backyard and the parking area for the apartments. Am I missing a short story?? Is the reading order on goodreads wrong, somehow?

I'm finally starting to like Jack. I never disliked him, but I previously (on the first and second read) found him sort of an amorphous blur with no real personality. He's growing on me, a bit.

"...any method that would scare Deedra into dropping her risky lifestyle was okay with me. The woman (and she was a woman in her twenties, though she often seemed much younger) would either contract HIV or another disease, or bring home someone who would brutalize her, if she didn't alter her ways."

I'm basically just collecting quotes in this section - mostly things Lily says that annoy me.

I was NOT expecting that.

I'm gagging! This is torturous to read.

I have a feeling the racial issues in this book are going to really bother me. Fingers crossed that it's not as bad as I'm anticipating.

Almost finished as these are quick reads. This one is way too sad. I like the Sookie series better as there are a few laughs and more imagination.

Ever lifted weights?

Apparently a strong theme of racism in this book will be present. I was excited to continue this series since Sept. (took break for horror reading in October) and so far it's hard to put down and enjoyable. I really like Lily and the different approach for this kind of main character. Kind of reserved and standoffish. Already a relationship seemed to have failed though, didn't see that happening so soon.

Another fascinating and slightly dark mystery with Lily Bard, cleaning lady and amateur sleuth.

Zipped through this book and very much enjoying it so far.

Wow! Wasn't expecting that.

Oooo. The detective seems hot. C'mon Lily - be into it!

I love her mysteries even more than her Southern Vampire series. Simply addictive.
