Oh jesus christ Amanda's dad expects all the regulation "boy" things out of her like hard sports and fighting (which girls can do too, it's just less common!!)

Not only is Amanda's dad disgustingly transphobic, "Boys who really think the things in your story are confused, they don't have good lives. So you're not one of those boys," he's sexist too. "Crying is for girls." While this angers me, it's real. Sexism and transphobia does exist in the world and it's important that those things are in books like this.

I had to stop and take some deep breaths.

I'm like ten minutes in and already getting emotional!

I think it is about time I finish this one that I started . . . No idea whenever. A year ago? Maybe two? But it comes handy for the Challenge.

The audiobook is really AMAZING! The woman doing a great job with the voices and the giggles. SO CUTE

Grant and Amanda are becoming closer and closer the more I read. Not that that’s a bad thing though; I just worry that one day Amanda’s secret will come out and everything they’ve built would be over. But there’s still a chance that that won’t happen and maybe Grant would still love Amanda. Based on what I have just read, I can tell that they really do like each other, maybe even love, but won’t admit it

I love how Amanda and Grant are doing in there relationship. And how Grant and her dad are starting to talk to each other more, even though it’s usually and mainly just a simple “Hi”. But I’m worried about the future and their relationship. When will Amanda plan to tell Grant the truth? Because at this point they’ve gotten too serious for it to not bother him that she kept her secret for so long.

Chloe reveals that Bee and her broke up. That is really sad but thankfully she still knows that there is still a whole world out there. And that this isn’t going to be her last relationship. Amanda comforts her the best way any friend can, which I love. Based on what I have just read, Chloe really knows she can trust Amanda with anything-especially her biggest secret ever.

I think I had an aneurysm just reading this: "But my relationship with sci-fi was a little more complicated than Grant’s, because it was one of the things about me that was typically male. I knew that some girls had grown up reading comic books, but since my transition, I wasn’t sure whether it was something I should hide, like my encyclopedic knowledge of every episode of Deep Space Nine might somehow out me." Honestly, I found out the author is most probably a rapist and abuser and I don't know if I want to continue reading :/

Amanda still has yet to tell Grant about the other side of her and I think it is something that she should definitely let him know before things get even more serious than they are. I know she is scared of what could happen but at some point the truth needs to come out. Would Grant still like her the same despite of her truth?

Grant brought Amanda to meet his family which consists of 2 little sisters and his mom. Grant clearly doesn’t have much & life is hard for him but Amanda acted as if that didn’t bother her at all. But at the dinner table somehow their dad was brought into the conversation and killed the whole mood. Based on what I have read, it is clear that something really bad must’ve happened with Grant’s family and dad.

At first I liked the idea of Amanda getting with Grant and making friends but her dad has a point. She could really get hurt again if someone finds out her truth and past. And if that happens, I’m not sure how she’ll ever get over it. Getting beat twice for being transgender? That would most likely break her. Based on what I have read, Amanda should really listen to her dad and be more careful.

Slowly but steadily getting there. Tbh though I’m kind of enjoying this morn than birthday which is surprising

Now Bee and Amanda have gotten caught for not having an art teacher for the whole semester so now Amanda has gym class but without Bee. Luckily Layla is in that class too so she won’t be alone. She had to change in front of Layla even though she was extremely nervous to but thankfully Layla was completely chill about it. I wonder what their gym locker room looks like because she described it as really old & dirty.
