Another trans person couldn't be put in this narrative because if another trans person was in the story and they weren't as flawlessly gorgeous and passing as the protag, all this nonsense about the protag's Atlas-level trans struggle would be crystal clear as opposed to simply obvious

Alright I will give the book this. I haven't seen a all-girls shopping trip scene in years and years, and I really like this one because one girl is getting into color palettes and undertones (my hero) and then you've got the farm girl tomboy of the group asking, "You can mute colors?" which has me cackling.

This book has cursed me with an essay I have to write and it won't leave my brain. Also good christ how many times can the rest of the cast call the protag hot before even the author thinks, "Alright, that's probably enough"? Is there an end in sight? Will characters interact with this protag in ways that don't involve blurting, "Babygirl you're smoking and also the coolest person I've ever met"?

Surely the protag's "equal secret" to hand out to someone talking about their traumatic rape and feeling complicit in the trauma of other girls who got in similar situations ISN'T "Well I'm trans"? Oh, it is? COME ON!

Alright I restarted to get the math. By page 73, there are 26 pages wherein people flirt with the protag, or tell her how hot or cool she is. That's a whole 35% of the story. IF I include a couple encounters wherein interest is implied but not so explicitly stated, that brings us to 31 pages of people noticing how hot and cool she is, a whopping 42% of the story. I am told that it somehow gets worse.

Have not started reading yet but I am SO EXCITED TO READ!!!! It looks so good, I can barely wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!
