This is dire. Look at the chapter headings if you don't agree "A Shocking Confession", "Another Shocking Confession". The characters are very difficult to remember, apart from having odd names, (Nash, Austin, Belty, Oliver, Thirza etc) they are all difficult to tell apart. I feel Sophie Hannah might need a holiday in Greece herself rather than writing about Poirot going on one

Sehr intriguing und baut eine gute Spannung auf, auch wenn es sehr viele Charaktere hat und der Erzähler einige unnötige Kommentare während der Handlung abgibt.

This actually feels so much like an actual Agatha Christie book! I went into this with lower expectations and am so pleasantly surprised!!

My theory persists.
Catchpool is a fan of Poirot's, slightly in love with him, who writes fan fiction about their adventures....

This is very much a 'And then there were none' attempt. I think that's why I'm tolerating it.

Additionally, there is this thing the author does that irks me. We are on page 84 and HP still refuses to say wtf they were invited.
Mais pourquoi? 🙃
Because in contrast, a golden age mystery writer such as A.Chriestie would be obliged to give her readers every fact, this whole charade of 'I will tell you tomorrow, Catchpool' could have been long had in a 5 min conversation.

So. I like the premise. HOWEVER, as always, Hannah just doesn't get Hercule Poirot and each section about him infuriates me. There is
1.no way he would travel to a remote island with no transport
2.he would never play a game of new year's resolutions
3. his goddamn eyes don't sparkle green
Here's what's gonna happen.
From now on, I imagine that Catchpool is a HP fan, who imagines these stories in his head.

These characters are awful. Yep, this is gonna be my last New Poirot mystery (might do a Sophie Hannah novel)

I've read all of these New Poirot books, the mysteries have been good enough to endure the terrible dialog but this one is really pushing the envelope

3 min into the audiobook and Sophie Hannah has already managed to piss me off. (A new years resolution like that for H. Poirot??? Not in a million years, nope!!)
At this point, I'm punished myself while reading these. What is wrong with me 😆

I fear I am not paying attention. That or not much has happened. That's my problem with audiobooks. I'm 80% sure I have ADHD and it's only getting worse.

Wow, no punishment, automatic forgiveness, what could go wrong if no one is ever punished for anything? 🙄 🙃

Interesting philosophy... Forgiveness without repentance, not seeking to be better, just automatically having to forgive someone is interesting...🫠 Ridiculous. I get the idea, but it ignores human nature, it ignores badness and evil.

Listening to the audiobook. Brilliant narrator and from what I recall of his acting Julian Rhind-Tutt is a brilliant actor too!!+
