I realise why I love these books so much. They feel like a semi modern day Sherlock Holmes. You start to fall in love with the fun characters and everythings just feels cozy.

I am so happy that I found out about this series - it's funny, clever, AND has solid police mystery plotlines. yay!

Super tired and just DONE so didn't get much listened to today.

Enjoyed it but had to pause because I was getting sleepy...

Nearly done - had to return this for a few holds, now get to remind myself of where we left off. A good story, more characters coming into the fold.

I'm just waiting for the reference to the RL Night Witches. Solid mystery during the wait though.

I like how each book seems to focus on a specific season that keeps the writing timeline streamlined and helps with outlining. Noting this technique for myself.

"Had they been supernatural, we'd have ensured that they were not famous. Perfectly human monsters every one of them."

"Hogwarts was all male."
"Indubitably. I'm sure I would have noticed otherwise."

Nightingale and Peter's mentor and wisecracking student dynamic is really entertaining in this one.

The dedications for each of these books have been awesome to read:

Night Witches!!! And here, they aren‘t „just“ female fighters from WW2 but magical practitioners! Awesome!

That mages TWO fully trained „illegal“ practitioners in London. Woohooo! :D

This is shorter than the others, unfortunately.

Not only do we have the Spring Court that the Folly is charged to secure, we also have a weird traffic accident with further clues regarding the „crocodiles“.

Plus, Abigail makes an appearance and we get more lessons - yay! :D

I was struck by what a good language Russian was for swearing in--very expressive.

I texted Nightingale to let him know our change in disposition and then I picked up my Pliny, because nothing says stuck all alone in your flat like a Roman know-it-all.

You don't get to be a senior investigating officer unless you have a degree in skepticism, an MA in distrust, and your CV lists suspicious bastard under your hobbies.

It's a police mantra that all members of the public are guilty of something, but some members of the public are more guilty than others.

Definitely good idea picking the audio for rereading this one. Excellent narration so far.

Decent, but slower than previous books. Still not sure where the plot is going.

This is quite slow, not in a bad way. I think something crazy is going to happen.

On one hand, the plot seems more elaborate here. On the other, there are some weird page fillers that simply don't make sense. Hopefully, the pace shall be accelerated ever so ... slightly.
