Hard to tell whether this version of Ryuk is dumber or more sinister than the main version. He claims he has lost his second death note but...
Perhaps the former as this here ends totally different than the series.

Interesting, this here has a death eraser to bring people back to live as long as their corpes have not been cremated yet... makes you wonder what would happen with people who died by severe violence like a car accident or bullets. This could be really grizzly.

So Taro Kagami instead of Light Yagami.
And interestingly, this here has Taro be a bullied kid who doesn't know what the english word "death" means and finds the effect of the book out by coincidence.
Ryuk still looks pretty similar though, just more in shadows, showing less detail.
Plus here there is record of earlier cases of people using the note... that was something I found weird, no records of prior users?

In the pilot manga the death gods look more human and even have scantily clad women.

Some of these few comic strip were funny, but others plain stupid. Maybe others have such a humor to find it funny.

One thing, the author's "humans will never change" is pretty fitting. When seeing the story I always thought his vision on humanity is rather negative and he doesn't understand much about criminality. It never seemed to occur to him that crime also can come from pressure and need, but in his case it seems rather "humans are bad and so they do it."

A Death Note personality test... sorry book, I like the story but I don't like it that much.

So the girl/woman at the end of Death Note who is praying was not Misa and they state that some think she is (including me), maybe they would not have thought that if the artist would have drawn a girl/woman that doesn't look so much, at least give her a different hairstyle or anything, or make her older.

So now there were all these tricks in it that they used in the manga.... well if that interests you.

According to this book Shidoh has a beak based on a canary bird:

Rem looks more like Medusa than this guy looks like a canary bird.
Also while he says there are no visual markers for male and female, it is obvious that none have breasts of any kind.

The inspiration for Rem's head was Medusa:

There are a lot of questions here regarding details... I can kind of understand it but I think its really overdoing it. As good as a story is, there are uually elements who have no deeper meaning for the story, they are just there to drive the plot forward or some easter eggs and the like, they are not portents or anything, its pure coincidence.

As reason for Naomi's death he has that she found out too much... I would say the reason is that he made a character that was too smart to work with the story so she was written out. And you notice it, most leading to her death once she met Light was incredibly forced in my mind, something very untypical for the Death Note franchise.

So L is 1/4 Japanese, 1/4 English, 1/4 Russian and 1/4 French (not surprising) or Italian. Aka he is white for me. I saw Half-Japanese who came out white already, but only 1/4 Japanese... so far I haven't seen anyone who actually looked like he/she could fit into Japan easily. Maybe one day I will, but so far it hasn't happened. Also he has that ancestry but they decided to give him the name Lawliet...

I noticed an interesting thing:
The male death gods are all basically humanoid, sometimes more sometimes less. The female ones have a much higher range, dwonright amhibian or even amorphous, but they interestingl never have form that would be considered female by human standards.
Also I see now real logic behind the Death god rating system.

Similar to the manga and anime this one here doesn't seem to find it weird that an experienced former FBI agent with an intelligence like Naomi would just tell a guy she barely knows as much as she did. That makes no sense, never did, never will.

While they had pretty good characterizations of Light, L, Near and Mello, they seem to romanticize Misa's obsessive and homocidal actions. I mean she kills easily just for a guy she barely knows and has a sick hero worship on and the book plays it down like that? It had no problem saying Light crossed the line to evil but Misa did not?

Didn't get much joy from the character profiles as I feel I got to know them in the story but as soon as I hit the Q&A with the writer I knew I wouldn't regret starting this!

This is such a spoiler to any one who hasn't read the series. But if you have then pick this book up right away it tells you all the things that they really didn't cover in the books and they even tell you what happens after the end of the story. So yeah, really great if you read the series and interesting too since the creatures tell you what kind of steps they had to take in order to make the series great.

Oh, so THAT was the original pilot before the series started.
I'm so glad that little deus ex machina was never introduced in the series.
And I'm done. Phew.

According to the Death Note Character Type Diagnoses, I'm most like L. And I was dangerously close on getting Light (It was either my devilish mind--which was going going to get me Light, or my wild imagination, which I chose. And I have both of those characteristics.)
Funnily enough, I thought I was going to get Misa.
Oh, well.
