Kathleen J. Shields is an award-winning, multi-genre author best known for The Hamilton Troll Adventures, which earned First Place Best Educational Children’s Series from the Texas Association of Authors. Her childhood creation The First Unibear, written at age ten, has won six awards and counting. She also received global recognition for The First Unicorn and her Christian fiction trilogy, The Painting.
While awaiting illustrations, Kathleen writes chapter books for tweens and general audiences, blending education with engaging stories to inspire a lifelong love of reading—and possibly writing. She openly shares her decades of knowledge with fellow writers, always eager to help others grow in their craft.

And when I was done... I'd probably escape into some of my own, like take a quick visit to the "Dream World" and have in in-depth telepathic conversation with my favorite hottie "Tom". ...it's hard not to go into some of the worlds you've written even though there are so many other worlds I haven't yet discovered! While I hated …moreThere are so many to chose from! While I know this may be a tad cliche the very first couple that came to my mind was Romeo and Juliet. While I hated the tragedy of them both dying in the end they remind me about the separation we are experiencing in our country. I personally would have loved to have seen them work it out. Bring the families together, solve some of this conflict. Stories like this bring out the writer in me. They make me want to write a better story - not that I could ever compete with Shakespeare...

Let me ask YOU a question. Have you ever read a book, watched a movie or a TV show and thought "That was a horrible ending!" Well when I say that - I make that my days writing challenge. I'll write the ending I would have liked to have read or watched. Even if no one ever gets to read it - it's my way of doing what I do. Have YOU ever done that?(less)

Kathleen J. Shields 2013 has been a very busy year for me. Having completed 6 Hamilton Troll books; my illustrators decided to take a couple months off, I was left with some spare free time. So what did I do? I finished up a few of my novels that I had been working on for years. Now besides the children's series, I have Dandy Lion, a Christian story, Rainbow of Thanks, a children's chapter book, the re-release of the Kaitlyn Jones Trilogy, Ally Cat, a fun tale for all ages and coming soon... Her Guarded Desire (and yes, it is exactly what the title insinuates). 2014 may be boring after this!
