With a new world, high stakes, and a diverse cast of characters, Aveyard ambitiously attempts to create an epic fantasy filled with adventure and heroism.

The story follows Corayne, an explorer's daughter, who finds herself embarking on a dangerous quest with an unlikely band of misfits. Aveyard's strength lies in the creation of her diverse cast, each with their own unique backgrounds and motivations. The relationships among these characters add depth to the narrative, and their interactions provide moments of intrigue and tension.

Aveyard's world-building is ambitious, with a wide variety of settings, cultures, and histories. However, the complexity of this world can sometimes feel overwhelming. The multitude of places, names, and lore introduced could have been better streamlined to avoid confusion and allow for a smoother reading experience.

The plot of "Realm Breaker" is filled with potential, presenting high stakes and epic battles that should engage fans of the fantasy genre. However, the pacing of the story is uneven, with certain portions dragging while others feel rushed. Additionally, the narrative doesn't fully deliver on the promise of its premise, with some plot threads left unexplored or hastily resolved.

The writing style is a blend of traditional high fantasy and more contemporary language. This combination, while refreshing in some instances, feels inconsistent in others, potentially disrupting the immersive experience for readers.

Overall, "Realm Breaker" is an adventurous read with a promising premise and diverse characters. Its ambition is clear, but it suffers from uneven pacing, a complex world that could benefit from clearer exposition, and a story that does not fully capitalize on its potential. For fans of Aveyard's previous works or those interested in new fantasy worlds, this book may still prove an enjoyable journey. It sets the stage for a series that, with further development and focus, could mature into a satisfying epic. ...more "
