But do not think you can at all,
By knocking on the window, call
That child to hear you. He intent
Is all on his play-business bent.
He does not hear; he will not look,
Nor yet be lured out of this book.

More of Нели's books…
Italo Calvino
“Arriving at each new city, the traveler finds again a past of his that he did not know he had: the foreignness of what you no longer are or no longer possess lies in wait for you in foreign, unpossessed places.”
Italo Calvino, Invisible Cities

Truman Capote
“You can love somebody without it being like that. You keep them a stranger, a stranger who's a friend.”
Truman Capote, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Three Stories

Katherine Paterson
“It's like the smarter you are, the more things can scare you.”
Katherine Paterson, Bridge to Terabithia

Georges Perec
“What we need to question is bricks, concrete, glass, our table manners, our utensils, our tools, the way we spend our time, our rhythms. To question that which seems to have ceased forever to astonish us. We live, true, we breathe, true; we walk, we go downstairs, we sit at a table in order to eat, we lie down on a bed on order to sleep. How? Where? When? Why?

Describe your street. Describe another. Compare.”
Georges Perec, L'infra-ordinaire

Georges Perec
“To write: to try meticulously to retain something, to cause something to survive; to wrest a few precise scraps from the void as it grows, to leave somewhere a furrow, a trace, a mark or a few signs.”
Georges Perec, Species of Spaces and Other Pieces
