Robin Boardman is a writer, organiser, and the youngest co-founder of Extinction Rebellion.

He first came to public attention through his role in the UK climate movement, leading the campaign that secured the University of Bristol’s full £2m divestment from fossil fuels, taking part in a two-week hunger strike against Heathrow expansion, and helping to shape the early strategy and culture of Extinction Rebellion.

Robin is disabled with Long Covid. Since becoming chronically ill, his work has shifted towards making complex research on climate breakdown, democracy, and civil resistance accessible to young people and non-specialist readers, particularly those navigating exhaustion, grief, and political despair.

He has appeared on BBC News and is

Fernando Pessoa
“The feelings that hurt most, the emotions that sting most, are those that are absurd - The longing for impossible things, precisely because they are impossible; nostalgia for what never was; the desire for what could have been; regret over not being someone else; dissatisfaction with the world’s existence. All these half-tones of the soul’s consciousness create in us a painful landscape, an eternal sunset of what we are.”
Fernando Pessoa

P.G. Wodehouse
“Filled with a coward rage that dares to burn but does not dare to blaze, Lord Emsworth coughed a cough that was undisguisedly a bronchial white flag.”
P.G. Wodehouse , Blandings Castle

Rabindranath Tagore
“Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark.”
Rabindranath Tagore

Pema Chödrön
“You are the sky. Everything else – it’s just the weather.”
Pema Chödrön

Bertrand Russell
“Of all forms of caution, caution in love is perhaps the most fatal to true happiness.”
Bertrand Russell, The Conquest of Happiness
