Caroline Warfield is the pseudonym of a writer who wishes she had walked through fascinating times in the shoes of one of her characters—but which one?

Caro has at various times been an army brat, a librarian, a poet, a raiser of children, a nun, a bird watcher, an Internet and Web services manager, a conference speaker, an indexer, a tech writer, a genealogist, and, of course, a romantic. She has sailed through the English channel while it was still mined from WWII, stood on the walls of Troy, searched Scotland for the location of an entirely fictional castle (and found it), climbed the steps to the Parthenon, floated down the Thames from the tower to Greenwich, shopped in the Ginza, lost herself in the Louvre, gone on a night tour of the S

I occasionally resort to the old trick of setting a timer for 15 minutes or rewarding myself if I write for a set period. It works. It is a bit like priming a pump. You have to get the imagination fired back up. Another thing that works is to have 2-3 projects at once. If one isn't working, the other one may be.(less)

I hadn't. thought about it. I considered this story a stand-alone event, and I was focused on the good guy, Declan. Now I'm probably going to have Rod and his need for comeuppance on my mind. Should he fall in disgrace? Be reformed and redeemed? Do you suppose there will be more little ones left without his care? Someone needs to call him out!

Napoleon’s Invasion Threat

factsbehindthefiction-1024x367 Facts Behind the Fiction Highlighting Historical Romance Highlighting History
Cerise DeLand joins us this week to tell us about Napoleon’s very real threat to invade England and how she wound it into her fiction.

The D-Day invasion of Normandy was a valiant endeavor by a combined force of allies to defeat an enemy. But that event—made up of convoys of ships, submarines, air defense and
airmen, soldiers and marines—was not the first such invasion conceived by one country.
