The chapter highlights several women of the Bible that portray that character trait and leads both the mother and daughter to seek scripture to learn more about that woman. Each chapter has guided questions that provide the mother and daughter to share personal and / or emotional thoughts about the character trait. This opens up dialog for more in depth discussions which is nice for this tween / teen age group. Other questions pursue scripture and encourage both mom and daughter to reflect the importance of God’s Word in her life. The back of the book contains a leader’s guide that helps the mom or group leader facilitate a Bible study format with follow up activities and prayer.
A positive for this study is you can grab a Bible and Becoming a Girl of Grace book and pile in the bed with your daughter(s) for a Bible study session. Each session can last thirty to ninety minutes depending on if you follow the leader’s guide or just read through the session and answer the questions. There is little if any homework or prep work which make this an easy study to use. Some may find this a delta since there is not a nightly assignment. If so, I think the leader’s guide and a little ingenuity would allow for moms to take eight of the woman mentioned in the study and have her daughters read more of her in the Bible each night.
My girls and I look forward to each Sunday night when we strengthen our relationship with God and each other as we study the Word using Becoming a Girl of Grace. The book is written in a way that both young and mature Christians can gain knowledge and mentor others. We like this book so much we plan on using this book for the summer mom and daughter Bible study that we lead.
