Three separate writing projects are vying for my attention.

1. A "Biblical Leadership" / "A Simple Man's Guide to Topical Bible Study" idea that has been on me for a few years now. It would probably start with the simple man's guide, then go into a number of texts with "leadership" in mind in part to demonstrate the usage of the simple principles I suggest.

2. A book of humorous stories centered primarily around daily work.

3. A book of meditations (30 or 31, the idea being for it to take the reader through a month of devotions) on the Lord's Prayer, the book of Jude, or one of the Psalms.(less)

Alexis de Tocqueville
“The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.”
Alexis de Tocqueville

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy.”
Elmer T Peterson

Alexis de Tocqueville
“I do not know if the people of the United States would vote for superior men if they ran for office, but there can be no doubt that such men do not run.”
Alexis de Tocqueville, Democracy in America

Alexis de Tocqueville
“Americans are so enamored of equality, they would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom.”
Alexis de Tocqueville

Charles Dickens
“You may be an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of underdone potato. There's more of gravy than of grave about you, whatever you are!”
Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol
