The Philosophy of Mass Effect from a Libertarian Perspective: Introduction & Indoctrination

A year or two ago I wrote an e-book in Hungarian titled The Philosophy of Mass Effect. In the book I made the argument that the Reapers of Mass Effect are a grand allegory for the State and went over all the the evidence to support it. It was written from a libertarian perspective for libertarians — issue is, there are virtually no libertarians in Hungary, hence it kind of felt as if I was wasting

Hannu Rajaniemi
“The criminal is a creative artist; detectives are just critics.”
Hannu Rajaniemi, The Quantum Thief

Douglas Adams
“The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don't.”
Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Gabor Maté
“Not all addictions are rooted in abuse or trauma, but I do believe they can all be traced to painful experience. A hurt is at the centre of all addictive behaviours. It is present in the gambler, the Internet addict, the compulsive shopper and the workaholic. The wound may not be as deep and the ache not as excruciating, and it may even be entirely hidden—but it’s there. As we’ll see, the effects of early stress or adverse experiences directly shape both the psychology and the neurobiology of addiction in the brain.”
Gabor Mate, In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction

Ayn Rand
“Freedom (n.): To ask nothing. To expect nothing. To depend on nothing.”
Ayn Rand, The Fountainhead

Murray N. Rothbard
“It is no crime to be ignorant of economics, which is, after all, a specialized discipline and one that most people consider to be a ‘dismal science.’ But it is totally irresponsible to have a loud and vociferous opinion on economic subjects while remaining in this state of ignorance.”
Murray N. Rothbard
