Like most of the authors, I'd found solace in writing because at one point in time I did not have anyone to confide in.

From then, I've been inclined to writing. The best thing I like about writing is that in the process of describing an event to readers I've become more observant of my surroundings and people.

No matter how talented you are, without discipline, you will get nowhere with your craft. Although writing is a creative indulgence, without discipline one will never be able to complete a book.

So even when I had writer's block, I put my pen on paper every day. Yes, I was not happy with what I was writing but I continued to write and after a few hours, my creative alter ego took pity on me and agreed to work with me. So, keep writing for hours or days if needed until you and your creative-self become amiable.(less)

Through your writing, you take a reader to your world. In order to do that you have to be a keen observant. You got to know the difference between the church and chapel, grey and light grey, guilt and remorse. So, naturally, you learn to observe everything and everyone around you with a new set of eyes. With the new set of eyes comes a mature, compassionate attitude towards your surrounding. This new attitude, I would say, is the best thing about being a writer.(less)
