I feel drained at times, which means I am lacking focus and direction for my stories. To work through that, I exercise, jot ideas, and get to the keyboard. The BEST way to circumvent feeling unenergized about writing is exercise, a good night's rest, and then getting back to the keyboard!(less)

My best asset is my mind; I'm a creative person and always seek ideas and/or make connections to circumstances around me. I've learned to NOT wait for inspiration. I am always working on several stories at once, so discipline, exercise, and rest are keys to successful storytelling.(less)

Poetry Slammed by Joy Ann Ribar
"Joy Ribar is razor-sharp at crafting a tense atmosphere, layering it with rich imagery and the ever-present sense that time is running out and the other shoe is about to drop. But no matter where you look, you won’t see it coming—and that, dear reade" Read more of this review »

None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell
"2.5⭐️ the best part of this book is that it's finally over

My work colleagues might fight me on this one on Monday 🤭 was the premise good? yes, very good actually. It was new and fun and twisty and I loved it.

Unfortunately as the story progressed eve" Read more of this review »
Starstruck by Cosmo Landesman
"I've long enjoyed reading Cosmo Landesman's film reviews and now he has a rather amusing column in one of the Sunday mags recounting his adventures in dating over the age of 60. And I was, of course, aware that he had once been married to the journal" Read more of this review »

Jorge Luis Borges
“So plant your own gardens and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.”
Jorge Luis Borges

Plato
“The beginning is the most important part of the work.”
Plato, The Republic

C.S. Lewis
“God created things which had free will. That means creatures which can go wrong or right. Some people think they can imagine a creature which was free but had no possibility of going wrong, but I can't. If a thing is free to be good it's also free to be bad. And free will is what has made evil possible. Why, then, did God give them free will? Because free will, though it makes evil possible, is also the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth having. A world of automata -of creatures that worked like machines- would hardly be worth creating. The happiness which God designs for His higher creatures is the happiness of being freely, voluntarily united to Him and to each other in an ecstasy of love and delight compared with which the most rapturous love between a man and a woman on this earth is mere milk and water. And for that they've got to be free.
Of course God knew what would happen if they used their freedom the wrong way: apparently, He thought it worth the risk. (...) If God thinks this state of war in the universe a price worth paying for free will -that is, for making a real world in which creatures can do real good or harm and something of real importance can happen, instead of a toy world which only moves when He pulls the strings- then we may take it it is worth paying.”
C.S. Lewis, The Case for Christianity

Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
“I would not mind if books simpler than this one, but combining fiction and fact, were also called blivits. This would encourage The New York Times Book Review to establish a third category for best sellers, one long needed, in my opinion. If there were a separate list for blivits, then authors of blivits could stop stepping in the faces of mere novelists and historians and so on.”
Kurt Vonnegut Jr., Palm Sunday

Oscar Wilde
“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
Oscar Wilde
