I found this a very fascinating read, the colonialism, the corruption, the pace with which is it told. You can see the initial topics which would later be mastered by Orwell, but for a first novel, this is a great one.

I really liked the first part of the book, I devoured it in less than a day. Great world-building and interesting characters. I do feel like the quality drops in the second half, but it is still an interesting read.
