Anthony was the last member of the Jilted Exes’ Club who was still single, and even though he insisted that was what he wanted, I enjoyed seeing him find his HEA with Kason. It was amusing at the start when Kason was under the impression they were dating, while Anthony was completely oblivious and just thought they were hanging out as friends (even though he did have a crush on Kason). This misunderstanding was resolved fairly early on in the story, though, so the rest of the book was just them dating for real and falling for each other. There wasn’t a whole lot of plot, but it was really sweet seeing them fall in love.

Kason was the greenest of green flags and was a truly incredible guy. He may have been a little too perfect, but I think after what Anthony went through with his family and with Malcolm, he needed someone as kind and giving as Kason. It was lovely seeing Anthony learn to trust in Kason and start to realize his worth. By the time the (minor) angst rolled around, he was in a much better position to handle it, and we really got to see the full impact of Kason’s support. I thought this character growth was well done.

“You scare me, Kason Maddox.”
Hearing that breaks my heart. It’s clear a whole lot of things and people have hurt Anthony in his life. “You don’t have to be. I won’t hurt you.” I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it a hundred times if I have to.

Perhaps one of my favorite things about this series has been the found family aspect. The Jilted Exes had all been through a pretty crappy thing with Malcolm, but it led them to each other, and the friendship they built was really beautiful. And I loved seeing their little family grow as each man found their partner. The epilogue may have been short in this one, but it was a great way to wrap everything up for all these characters!

I haven’t had a lot in my life worth fighting for, but Kason is. I’d go to the ends of the earth for him, and I know he’d do the same for me.
