The Best is Yet to Come: A Little Creek Love Story

Rate this book
"Hey, stranger."
Those were the first words he ever said to me, as if he knew me, as if he'd been waiting for me.
But not only had we never met before, I wasn't sure he was even real.

One moment I was in my apartment and the next I was in the park, standing face-to-face with the man who, up until then, I had only seen in a damaged photograph.
There's no logical explanation for how I got there, or how I kept returning.
What I did know was that, when we were together, I felt happier and more like myself than I had since returning home to Little Creek.

Our encounters may have seemed random, but I soon realized there was a purpose behind everything he'd shown me.
Now I'm trying to piece together this puzzle he's left me with.
As I draw closer to the truth about the man in the photo, will I find who I've been looking for? Or will I discover that the best is yet to come?

*** The Best is Yet to Come is a STANDALONE contemporary romance with a twist. Due to mild language and sexual situations, this book is intended for readers 17 & up ***

An incredibly emotional and heartwarming debut read with a unique plot!

The Best is Yet to Come by J.E. Benoit is an incredibly emotional and heartwarming debut read. I’ll admit, I went into this with a little wariness because when I first started reading I thought it wouldn’t be my kind of book but boy, did J.E. Benoit suck me in to this book which has a slight mystical twist . I won’t say much to avoid spoilers but The Best is Yet to Come is a wonderful read that definitely leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy. The sweet epilogue ending brings the story full circle to make this a standalone read.

The book is told solely from Adaline’s perspective but that doesn’t take anything away from the chemistry that builds up between herself and the other characters around her, especially her love interest (where things do heat up but in a very fitting way through the steady pacing). The characters are very likeable but have flaws that will tug at your heart at times and watching how things evolve was really intriguing. That’s all I’ll say but there are also some wonderful secondary characters to add some light-hearted moments, especially Adaline’s best friend, Morgan.

For a debut novel, I was thoroughly impressed with how well written and strong this small town romance book was and I definitely look forward to reading more from J.E. Benoit.

*I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.

I seriously loved this book so much! It gave all the feels and I can't wait to have the paperback on my shelf. Before I read this I was in such a slump. I had started at least 5 books and only got part way through them before moving on to the next. This book though I couldn't put it down and I'm even tempted to read it again right away. I loved these characters and I can't wait to see what this author will write next.

When I first read the blurb for The Best Is Yet To Come by JE Benoit, I was expecting a sweet contemporary romance with a hint of a twist. What I got was SO much more than that and I was surprised in a very great way.

Adaline is a responsible woman with a lot of extra strain in her life. Taking over a small business is tough enough without the added weight of grief. I connected with her instantly, as I feel a lot of people will. She's down to Earth without much fuss. When she starts getting taken away to these random situations, I was extremely intrigued.

For the sake of not spoiling this surprising journey, I won't say much else about the plot. What you need to know is the writing is solid, the characters are well defined, and the storyline is exciting. I was very impressed with this debut romance and definitely recommend you give it a look!

Love this story what happens when adaline finds a mysterious pic and strange things occur and is Ben the guy in the pic meant to be the love of her life or is it his brother Quinn who is lost and bitter and what happens when she discovers the truth about Ben what messages is Ben trying to send and is adaline the answer to Quinn in more ways than just one great heartbreaking read and worth recommending

-ARC received in exchange for honest review-

4.5 stars

This was a enjoyable and unique read from start to finish.

Told entirely from the first person POV of the heroine Adaline, The Best is Yet To Come is a sweet and emotional romance. The book starts of in an unusual way which had me intrigued and progressed into a more typical romance novel.

Adaline meets the hero in this story Quinn after a push in the right direction from an unexpected source. She's drawn to him as he is to her, however it soon becomes apparent that the baggage of his past may prevent them from getting their Happy-Ever-After.

I found both characters to be likable and relatable, I love reading about flawed, imperfect characters as they feel more realistic and that makes the story all the more engaging. Their chemistry was believable and I liked how the author built up their relationship.

The only point I would make, which is entirely a personal preference, is that at times I wished the story was told in a dual POV just to create some variation in the narration.

Overall this story was very well written and is a promising debut, I look forward to seeing what else this talented author has in store.

This book is one that’s tricky to review because there are so many special things that I want to tell you about, but I can’t do that without spoiling things! I can tell you about Adeline. A kind-hearted, intelligent young woman who lost both of her parents when she was twelve years old. Her Aunt Josie took in an angry, grief stricken teenager and taught her the important things about life and living through her indefatigable patience and unconditional love. Years later, after Josie’s death, Adeline finds herself back in her small hometown, running the café her aunt left to her, sans the boyfriend of two years who didn’t think she was worth moving for. Her best friend Morgan works alongside Adeline, being her cheerleader, sounding board, comic relief and biggest supporter. Adeline finds a photograph that leads her to someone who changes the course of her life and shows her the positive, life affirming things that can eventually come out of pain and loss.

If you enjoy finding new authors, you’ll love JE Benoit! “The Best Is Yet To Come” is a book with a fascinating, fresh, unique premise and plot, and is a slice of small town romance at its best. If you’ve experienced loss in your life or ever blamed yourself for a negative circumstance in another’s life, this book will resonate with you. And hopefully the positive messages will find a home in your heart and offer a fresh, potentially life changing perspective. The supernatural element of the book will have you wondering “what if” and questioning just how much we actually know about this world we inhabit. This exquisitely told, beautifully emotional story will capture your heart, seep into your soul, and tease your mind long after the last page. With themes of forgiveness, altruism and positive outlook, this J.E. Benoit work is unequivocally worth the read and one you’ll return to time and again.

“I promise you Adaline, I will do everything in my power to never hurt you and I’m not walking away. These past few weeks have been some of the best in my life, you… you helped bring me back to life.”

Let’s just get it out of the way and admit I Love this Book!! It's original and not just your typical romance. This book is one of those books that leaves you believing that regardless of how hard life can be at times, with enough patience and maybe a little help the best can happen for you too.

'Where did this guy come from? It’s like he’s saying exactly what my heart needs to hear.'

Adaline (Addy) is struggling trying to make her aunts coffee shop a success and to honor her memory for all the wonderful things she did for her. Her luck seems to be on a downward spiral with no upturn in sight. Needing a break from the stress she heads over to the park across the street to her favorite bench trying to make sense of what to do next. A picture appears at her feet and the man in the picture is so breathtakingly handsome that she is compelled to take it with her.

As luck would have it Adaline gets the chance to meet this stranger who captured her attention and trust me when I say you will swoon over him, from his fun-loving personality and ability to make Addy forget about her worries and return to her former happy self. The adventures they go on leave Addy wanting more and looking forward to every time she sees him, although she doesn’t always know when that will be.

“I know we said this was a date, but call me selfish because when we have our real first date I want you all to myself,”

This is where things get interesting and will take you on a twist you won’t see coming. This also leaves me with a limited amount I can say without any spoilers. What I can say is the growth and love the characters have is wonderful. They realize that together they can move past their former heartache and regrets to focus on the future. Of course, it’s never as simple as that, there are ups and downs along with a few setbacks but their love shines through. I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait for what J.E. Benoit has in store for us next!

“Tell me this is real, Adaline. I’ve dreamt of seeing you in my bed so many times, tell my I’m not dreaming now,” he pleads.

This was a fun quick read, i really enjoyed it. A beautiful romance with likable characters. The mysterious premise was different than anything I’ve read before. I hope there is more to come with these characters in the future. Highly recommend!

What a great beach read! Easy flow, likeable characters with just enough mystery to keep you wanting to know what happens next. A hint of fantasy throughout reminds the reader of Cecelia Ahern. The author does leave unanswered questions with Paige and Santino and their reaction to each other, along with how did Ben help Paige out. Which leads one to believe there may be another book in the future. I certainly hope so and I would definitely read it.

The Best is Yet to Come is a wonderful, sweet love story with just a little of the "unknown" thrown in. Addy has her hands full trying to bring her aunt's coffee shop back to it's originally glory after her aunt passes away. She has been dealt some difficult hands in her life, losing her parents, her aunt and a long time love. She has also however, had people who loved her and who stayed by her side to help bring her out of the sadness when she needed to stop grieving.

Here meetings with Ben are so strange and unexplainable but Addy knows that there is a reason for every single meeting with him. She meets his brother Quinn and learns that she must help Quinn get past his sadness as others have done for her. But the journey is not easy for any of them and dealing with the unknown only makes it more difficult in some ways.

Will Quinn and Addy find a way to be together or has there been too much pain on both sides for them to cross that river to the other side? I could not put this book down and was anxious to see how it will all played out. And yes, I did bawl my eyes out in some parts because I could literally FEEL their pain. A great first foray into the romance genre and I will read anything else you write.
