Briony is a young woman who grew up in a church with a religious family. Briony is smart and ambitious and strives to hold a place of power within the church as the Magnus Princeps. Though she is ambitious and courageous, she is falling for the deception of the church, until she meets Aero. Briony cautiously accepts Aero, but slowly she trusts him more and more as he exposes the truth of the brutality and lies of the church in his own sick way.

"You're a woman without a voice, Briony," he whispers against my lips. "Let me be the throat through which you scream."

Aero is a masked man obsessed with Briony. Everything he did was for Briony to become the strongest version of herself, to build her up and make her realize the truth that was happening in the church. He wanted to see her grow and for her to have a voice. And he would do anything for her! Aero's story is heartbreaking and the one that really ties the story together. He is ruthless, unhinged and dark and he still fights for his freedom from his past. Aero has been hired to kill Briony, but instead he begins to stalk her and expose the truth of the church to her.

"What we have together isn't definable by a word created by another man. No combination of letters or formulated language can encompass the magnitude of our tragedies. Our pain. Our euphoria."

This book is dark, delicious and extremely well written and hooked me in from the beginning. This book has plot, spice and elements of suspense. It is addicting. Briony and Aero were the most amazing couple. This book was an incredible, unhinged read. The plot and character development worked for a dark romance. From the beginning to the end of this book, this is what a dark romance should be. I was constantly on the edge of my seat while each twist and turn shocked me. I will re-read this book again in the future and read more of Jescie Hall's books. ...more "
