"The Adirondacks that are the Other Half of Me" is Mary's first book. She has been published in numerous other venues but she is especially excited about the book's sucess; it was released in June of 2009.
Mary is the only child of a Scottish immigrant mother and a first generation Italian-American father; she celebrated in a family proud of their heritage. Prouder still were they, to be Americans.
She was raised in a home filled with a bounty of love, pets, art, books, and music, which enabled her to develop a wide array of interests. Along with those experiences, were lessons teaching respect for herself, for others, and for life in general.
She has studied various forms of art throughout her life: creative writing, poetry, pottery, sculp "The Adirondacks that are the Other Half of Me" is Mary's first book. She has studied various forms of art throughout her life: creative writing, poetry, pottery, sculpture, textile design, fiber arts and jewelry making. Painting, drawing and writing, are her favorite forms of expression with painting being her “passion”. She works in acrylic, watercolor and gouache.
As a young adult, she freelanced in the fashion and cosmetic industry, affirming the basis of her upbringing: beauty, need truly be within.
In her thirties, Mary became a wife and mother; she started a retail business incorporating her artistic painting on giftware and commissioned pieces. This gave her the flexibility to care for her small child and aging parents.
Twenty years later, Mary’s business was destroyed by fire. She decided it was time to change directions, and return to her love of the written word yet still use her love of art as well, in illustrations, designing, and teaching classes.
Her child is grown, and her parents have passed from this world. She is grateful for each moment she has to experience what life can hold. Whether those moments are joyful or sad, they are a gift that she will continue to gather and share with others.
Mary writes and paints everyday if possible, whether she is at her winter home in central Pennsylvania, or her summer "camp" in the Adirondack Mts. of New York. She shares her life with her husband, her daughter, and their pets- all of whom have been subjects of, or instrumental in, her favorite forms of expression…

I think I can, I think I can...

...be much better at keeping up to date with this and my other blogs. I must confess, the ol' grey matter isn't what it used to be and I forget my 'things to do' more readily now. I have just put my blogs on a shortcut on my desktop; the chances are better if I see it every time I open my desktop I may- just may- remember to post more regularly!
