I gave the book to others at work and everyone liked it. I agree, it was well written and kept my interest. I can't say the same about her other book. The book about her Grandmother. Sorry, I can't remember the title, something about horses. It was awful and I couldn't even finish it.

I never heard of the book "The Killer of Little Shepherds". What caught my attention about this book was the time period it happened. Thank you for mentioning it. I will add to my "to-read list".
Vicki, I think you mean "Half Broken Horses". I wasn't sure if I wanted to read it or not. Thanks for the input on it. I have enough other books to read. I think I will skip this one.
I know what you mean about enough other books to read. If it turns out to be a cold winter, I have two bookcases full of books to get me through. Since joining Goodreads I have been able to narrow down my to-read list. I am focusing on reading mostly the 4 star books now.
61. Speak by Laurie Halse AndersonYoung adult book about a young teenage girl who figures out how to cope with something that happened to her.
62. Then Came Youby Jennifer WeinerYes, it is "chick lit" but it did give me some interesting situations to think about.
63. Twisted by Laurie Halse AndersonYoung adult book about a teenage boy and how he learns to grow up.
Darlene, welcome to the group! I am so sorry it took me a while to send this. I was very behind on posts and just caught up. It looks like you have a read a lot of great books and many are ones that I want to read! I hope you are enjoying the group. Please fee free to let me know if I can help you with anything. We are so happy to have you :)
64. The Language of Flowers by Vanessa DiffenbaughI liked the idea that each plant conveys an emotion, regret, love, acceptance etc. I found that part of the book interesting. The main character, though, was so unlikable and annoying that it was hard for me to get through the book.
65. The Mockingbirds by Daisy WhitneyThis young adult novel deals with the subject of date rape. It does so in a very compassionate manner. Some good references to Harper Lee's book.
66. Pollyanna by Eleanor H. PorterOn vacation last week. Not the restful kind but the let's see all of Walt Disney World in five days! I did read this book on the plane.
67. We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley JacksonNot a scary book, but a little spooky and odd. I really enjoyed it.
68. Death Comes to Happy Valley: Penn State and the Tragic Legacy of Joe Paterno by Jonathan Mahler short ebook about the scandal at Penn State. Since I am familiar with the university, it was interesting to read this account.
69. Out Stealing Horses by Per PettersonThis book starts out slow and there are unanswered questions at the end, but it is worth hanging in there. Gorgeous prose!
70. Bent Road by Lori RoyI had trouble getting involved in this book in the beginning, but by the end, I just couldn't put it down!
71. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman AlexieI normally don't like coming of age novels. Especially boy coming of age novels, but with the twist of being a Native American in an all white school and having brain damage, it was an interesting worthwhile read.
72. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank BaumI never read this as a child. Way better than the movie!
73. Friendship Bread by Darien GeeA feel good chick lit book about overcoming grief with the help of good friends and some excellent bread!
74. Crossing to Safety by Wallace StegnerI am probably a literary light-weight because I never have read anything by Wallace Stegner. Nothing much happens in the book but his writing was so good, it didn't matter.
One more to go!
75. Fair and Tender Ladies by Lee Smith It took me several days to get through this book. It was well written and I liked the letter format.
