Self-challenge - 50 books in 5 months?

I recommend Darren Humphries instead."
I second that. And third, fouth and fifth it!

And I have indeed read and enjoyed some of the work of Mr Darren Humphries. It's been several years since I read a new Thursday Next novel though, so I'm afraid he'll have to take a back seat for the time being...

As well. Not detracting from our Daz, but Jasper Ffffforde is brilliant. :)
Good luck with the challenge though. I've read 38 books since I joined GR in April, so I'm sure you can do it :D

Whose 'Shades of Grey' did you read? Michael's? If so I agree completely, a fab book :-)

I wouldn't like anyone to buy books as a surprise for me. Since I have read so many, and have definite ideas of what I like and don't like. I don't think I've ever tried Fforde though.

My nephew was given a hardback book one birthday by his uncle (not my brother! - BIL's brother) and the following christmas got the same book in paperback from the same uncle.

If they can't buy a paper one, it's generally a giftcard.

No lines for me, I'm just chuffed that I'm the only person who started last year to come back this year!

At least that's what I told myself the year I danced off the wrong side of the stage after turning up drunk to the dress rehearsal...

Ahahaha, that's not too bad a mistake though. The audience would never have known!
I have a feeling that everyone will be turning up drunk/hungover as apparently it'll be partying every night after the show

So I'm now aiming to read 50 books before the end of the year. I'm already halfway through Artemis Fowl so I won't count that, so the first book will probably be Pompomberry House. Other recommendations welcome, but I have a TBR folder and pile as long as your arm, probably enough to take me over the line...
As a few others have tried, I'll try and include as many books from UKAKF authors as possible, but there's likely to be a lot of Alistair Reynolds, Paul Magrs, Robert Rankin, Jasper Fforde, Terry Pratchett and Peter F Hamilton, cos that's who's already on my shelf demanding to be read.
Wish me luck!
