Robert D. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe - a beautiful escape that keeps hope alive by reminding us that good will triumph in the end.

Becky Every time I read a good book or watch a good movie, I make up my own character and fit her into the storyline. I guess this is my way of "living" in those worlds.

message 155: by [deleted user] (new)

I do that too! And usually those characters resemble me in some way or other. lol.

Duskdsquare Every book is a different world that I put myself in, so I often get book hangovers. Sometimes reality's cruelty makes me want to stay in the book.

Charlene When I was a girl, I read LITTLE WOMEN every summer - this is one of my fondest memories of childhood, the freedom to take a piece of fruit with me and to read out on the porch when chores were done. I identified with Jo,in so many ways!

In more recent years, and for completely different reasons, I like to at least imagine myself an observer /friend in all the BRIDGERTON books. A second kind of reading getaway is a good time-travel book or series, such as Gabaldon's OUTLANDER series or Janet Chapman's first group of HIGHLANDER books.

Agree! I loved these books as a child.

I have similar thoughts and feelings.

Longstocking i would like to live in a book seems everything going right just like we predicted it would happen.
Anyway, we have live in a book while we read it jumpt into the stories exploring our mind with it :)

message 164: by Dianna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dianna Beirne I think the desire to live in a book speaks to how well the book is written. I would live in Narnia in a heart beat and I would stay there for a hundred years!! Especially because if I decided to come back, everything would be as it was when I left, pretty cool idea, best of both worlds. I have to wonder what it would be like to grow old in one world then come back and start over from adolescences in another world, would we be better people? Calmer? Smarter? I wonder....

Ds i always live in a book i read them

message 166: by K (new) - rated it 5 stars

K Yes and Narnia is the one simply because it has talking animals, knights and medieval castles. :)

No, I don't want to live inside a book - that would be very uncomfortable.

message 168: by Susan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Susan Prudhomme Yes, I wanted to live in Narnia, too. And in Middle Earth. But their authors aren't writing any more - so frustrating. So I wrote my own world, The Forest, and lived with Timkin as he made his great journey to the Abode of the One. You can find it under Susan Prudhomme. A sequel just came out, too - The Desert.

message 169: by K (new) - rated it 5 stars

K Lol, um... Susan, the authors of Narnia and LOTR aren't wiring anymore because they are DEAD.

message 170: by Susan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Susan Prudhomme Kiera, you are so right! Dead authors, especially when they are your favorites, are really frustrating. How inconsiderate! However, I am still alive and kicking - and writing.

Susie Schroeder Brandon wrote: "Only if I could bring those I love.
Oh, and I'd go to Middle-Earth."
Amen. I would first go and stay with Tom Bombadil and Goldberry

Sidnay Clarke-Sweet I would 100% live in The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Lol.

message 174: by Jody (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jody I would love to live in Narnia and have adventures. Also, I'd love to live in Avonlea (Anne of Green Gables). It is based on a real place, Cavendish, PEI, and hope to visit there, but I know the first modern convenience I see there will disappoint me, lol.

message 175: by Lucy (new)

Lucy Every day of my life

Eleanor I would love to live in Brambly Hedge

message 177: by Danielle (new) - added it

Danielle yagami of course I do. It'd be cool to go to Hogwarts, Narnia, see dragons, sometimes even befriend and ride them, visit the world of fey etc

message 178: by [deleted user] (new)

I've read alot of books I wish I to be apart of, maybe even change the story. I don't think I would take place in Harry Potter unless its AFTER Voldemort is destroyed. Because I don't want to be in a book war zone. But it would be wicked fun to be in Percy Jackson!!! I don't know if I would be a child of Athena or Poseidon. Maybe a little of both. Daughter of Poseidon with a blessing of Athena? Or the other way around would work too. :-) I could have water powers but the wisdom of the sacred wise owl at the same time!! Cool!!!

Crystal Taylor Yes, I always picture myself as some character in whatever book/play/poetry I'm reading. In fact, I developed my love for reading because my momma explained her love for reading to me this way, "In a book, Crystal, you may travel anywhere, do anything, be anybody, and you may have experiences that you will never have in this life." After that I read "Hatchet" by Gary Paulsen and fell in love with reading. I am now what I call a chronic reader. I read anything I can get my hands on. I LOVE to read and "travel", "experience", and "do" things that I can't do now due to poor health and financial constraints.
As to "Harry Potter," I've always imagined myself as a fourth member of the trio of friends. I love them all so much. :)
