Cherry Maple For a brief moment, I thought it would be fun. The dangers of a magical world is too great though.

Sophie Anyone who has ever dreamed of living in the book world should read the Thursday Next books, they are fabulous. Just remember that living in the book world isn't always the safest place to be. There is the inter-genre conflict to consider, and the characters who we think we know aren't always quite how we expect them to be, take Miss Havisham for example!

Anyone see Lost in Austen? It was a BBC production about a girl who found herself in the book world, it was great fun actually. Complete rip off of Jasper Fforde's idea, but a good laugh all the same.

Giuliana E. I remember reading The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe as a child when my grandparent's would babysit me. I was convinced that, just like the book, I would one day find a hidden portal at the back of the closet that would bring me into Narnia. Every morning and every night I would check, but alas... my wish never came true. All to say, if I were to live in a book and live out each and every moment of its magic, it would absolutely be The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe!

Montana Phan Yes, there are times when I really want to literally be in the book I am reading. =D

Keri The only book place that I have ever even thought about as a place to live would be Middle-earth. I think I'd be happy in real life in a place like Middle-earth. Narnia sounds beautiful too but to be honest I think the talking animals would drive me a bit crazy.

Me too :D

This is an easy one. Definitely a Jane Austen novel.

message 59: by Alex (new) - rated it 5 stars

Alex I almost always wanna live in the books that I read - but, this one especially. It felt so wonderful to think of how Lucy and the others would escape into a world where they were so much bigger than themselves. Sometimes I feel so insignificant in such a big world, and I dream about one day actually finding some sort of grand purpose. Plus, it wouldn't hurt to have a centaur friend. Who may or may not let me ride him around. Or a talking lion. I'll take either one...

The memory of my dreams is as real for me as it is for you, that we had actually lived it

Venora I really, really wanted to live in the the Chronicles of Narnia: The Last Battle. Especially, some last chapter of Narnia. After the last battle.

Cheska Cadeliña i'd say the world of j.k rowling's harry potter is a magical place to live in!

Angela Not now, but as a child I always wanted to live in The Magic Faraway Tree so I could visit different lands at the top of the tree!

Kimberly A Growing up, I would look for the entrance to Narnia at the back of my grandma's closet and wish that I could find a route to Oz that didn't include a tornado, shipwreck, or earthquake.

Yes, I loved that show! I spent hours thinking about what book I would be drawn into.

message 71: by [deleted user] (new)

yes, I would like to go to Hogwarts, get home to District 4 (that one is my favorite district!), and spend the summers at Camp Half-Blood!

message 72: by Liam (new) - rated it 4 stars

Liam Haehnle as i weould read books i woul re read each chapter after i had read it or read each slowly, placing myself in every novil i read. a form of extravagent daydreaming that i live off of.

Yardéna Lucretia All the time. It seems like everytime I open a book, I get sucked into another world that can be totally different from my own. You have adventures you otherwise might not have. And you can be anyone you want to be. Like a wizard in a fairytale, or the hero of a story. If a book is written well it will captivate you in such a way that you forget the world around you and become part of the fantasy world of the pages you're reading.

Ricardina Guimarães I have always imagined myself inside the book – “The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha” - a novel written by Miguel de Cervantes.
I think I have always wanted to be D. Quixote lady love, Dulcinea del Toboso!
In my mind the ideal soundtrack for this book would be “El Concierto de Aranjuez” a composition for classical guitar and orchestra by the Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo!
I think I am a day dreamer!

Melanie I would love to live the "The Fellowship Of Ring"

Jessica I loved this book with a passion. I was able to visualize everything! Years later the movie comes out and I literally can watch this movie back to back just so I can feel like I'm in Narnia. If I only had a genie in a lamp.lol

Your comment reminds me of a book I read called The Night Bookmobile by Audrey Niffenegger (?), who wrote The Time-Traveler's Wife. Have you read Bookmobile? V. thought provoking.

message 80: by Vicki (new)

Vicki G Yes. In the Narnia Chronicles and Harry Potter's world.

Savannah YEEEEESSSS, i want to live in inkheart. the book inside the book.

message 82: by Katy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Katy Are there people that DON'T want to live in books?

Ladysw (Sara) This discussion reminds me of Fushigi Yugi: VizBig Edition, Volume 1. Basically, a girl goes into a book, the Universe of the Four Gods, and is forced to be a man character against her will.
To answer your question. I would love to live in Middle Earth(the setting of The Lord of the Rings), but not the Lord of the Rings trilogy. There are too many wars going on at that time. Maybe another time?

Ladysw (Sara) I second the Outlander series!

message 85: by Ladysw (Sara) (last edited Sep 25, 2012 09:21PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ladysw (Sara) I fell in love with Jamie. I'm looking forward to reading the graphic novel from his perspective, The Exile.

Matthew Ryan When I was young, it wasn't so much a specific book I wanted to live in, just an alternate, fantasy reality.

Patricia Emerson I think that would be fun.

Chathura Perera Rachael wrote: "I've only wanted to live in a bookworld when the real one has been insufficient. So, most of the time, yes."

i agree with you

message 89: by Kate (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kate whenever im lonely, i always want to just walk into a wardrobe and escape into another world... the Narnia Chronicles is an amazing series!!!

message 90: by John (new) - rated it 5 stars

John I think that the essence of a good book is one that transports the reader into that world. I know that when I'm reading a good book, I am transported into that world. I almost become the characters (well, the characters I like, anyway...lol). Give me a good book, some headphones for music, and I'm gone for a few hours!!!

Aashwini yeah moreover i want to be susan

message 92: by [deleted user] (new)

I've always wanted to be Lucy. Never wanted to be Suasn, strangely. Maybe because she never shows up after Prince Caspian.

message 93: by Betsy (last edited Nov 02, 2012 07:27PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Betsy I've always wanted to talk to the characters if not exactly live in their world.I'd give Scout a hug,but wouldn't want to live in the 1930's South.I talked, in my mind, to most of the characters in Franklin's Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter but I lived in places like the area Franklin described, and I couldn't wait to move. I guess I feel this way because of majority of the types Of books I read. I like fantasy books, and enjoyed some of the Harry Potter books and most of the Narnia series, but alot of the books I read have likeable or at least understandable characters dealing with a reality I don't necessarily like. For example The Hunger Games. I'd love to meet Katniss, but geez who would want to live in a post apoplyse (sp) world.

When I was little, I wanted to live in my American Girls books. My favorites were Samantha and Felicity. :) When I was in middle-school I wanted to live in a Jane Austen novel.

Library Nymph Melina wrote: "Funny, I've always imagined myself as Lucy whenever I read the book or watched the movie"

Me, too. :)

Library Nymph Will wrote: "I live in a book every time I open its pages."

True.

message 97: by Danielle (last edited Nov 13, 2012 06:05PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Danielle Morales I've always imagined myself in the world while I'm reading about it, living the life of the main characters. I wouldn't trade my life for another's to live in another world, but if I could experience the story more realistically every time I lose myself in one, that would be incredible. I think "living in books" is what makes you appreciate your life or look for the beauty that's written in your everyday. But...If I had a choice I would wonder in Narnia, party in the Shire, and fall in love at Pemberley.

Briyana Valerie wrote: "one of the books that i dream of living in is The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe because it's so magically and full of adventure! Another book would be Harry Potter , just so i could go to Hogwa..." Me too, i used to daydream about how fun my life would be if i could go to hogwarts and the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe would definetely be a place i would want to live.

Briyana Frankie wrote: "I loved the Chronicles of Narnia and reread them still. But I lived in MiddleEarth for a while, and cried when I came to the end of Alexander Lloyd's Chronicles of Prydain."

I hate when i come to an end of a favorite series it makes me so sad. I wish it would go on forever.

Briyana Melina wrote: "Funny, I've always imagined myself as Lucy whenever I read the book or watched the movie"

Me too because i am the youngest of four kids.
