Valerie one of the books that i dream of living in is The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe because it's so magically and full of adventure! Another book would be Harry Potter , just so i could go to Hogwarts!

Kristen Hill I used to think I would but, I'm not sure I would want to live in any book without the chance to get out. For example "Harry Potter" the magic and stuff would be cool but I don't think I would want to live through the second wizarding war.

Liam Haehnle Every time I read a book or watch a move, I place my self in it and re live it as if I was there. So yes, I would love to live in a book. But considering that I live my life in my daydreams and in alternet realitys of my books, reality can come to be prefered

message 4: by Ree (new) - rated it 1 star

Ree as a child I did not simply dream of living in the harry potter world, I secretly was convinced that it was real (well, and who knows? lol) and fiercely hoped to receive a hogwarts letter up until my 12th birthday :D so, yeah, a trip into these books would be fun, but, as said above, only if I were able to get out again. Inkheart trilogy would be cool in that sense, if you have your very own silvertongue at hand at all times :)

Alexandra If I could invent a superpower, it would be to put myself in the place of any character I wanted in a book and go through the story, then be able to come back to my own time and life as if I'd never left.

Rachael I've only wanted to live in a bookworld when the real one has been insufficient. So, most of the time, yes.

Valerie When i think of living in a book world, i can't help but to think of Once Upon A Time t.v. show. I think if it were possible then I' D want to do that because I have alwats been curious what would happen if you traded out some characters. For example, what if Keshan from the tiger's curse got switch with Damon from vampire diaries.I've always wondered if when you cross books together would it change who fell in love with who or the entire outcome of the story.

Will IV I live in a book every time I open its pages.

Steph I would love to live in a book!!!! :)

Amanda Valerie, you're a woman after my own heart! I have often thought this myself. Narnia is a beautiful place. I also felt the same way when reading "Out of the Silent Plant" (also by C.S. Lewis).

Avani Yes, in the magical world of Harry Potter.

C. J. Scurria I guess I have wanted to live in a book but not in the way you might think. I wish that I had (at least temporarily to see what it would be like_) lived during the time of Jesus. I would love to meet Him in the physical sense and hear Him speak.

As to living in Narnia I almost do not agree to that because the characters themselves are just right. I don't think I ever had a "What if. . ." scenario when reading the Narnia books.

Jo These books, yes. Very much so.

i am still in the alusion that it is all real and to be a silvertoung is a dream that i live every day!

Lilly The one and only book in which i wanted(and still want) to live is The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
I always hoped tht i would go into a deep sleep and then wake up in narnia, that whole place is so magical and beautiful.<3 NARNIA <3

I always think the Discworld would be a brilliant place to live - in many ways, it's got everything: wizards, witches, orangutan librarians, orcs, elves...I think even Gollum appears in Witches Abroad.

Jaye Latts This is a fabulous question, one I've never thought of! I recently finished "The Last Dragonslayer" by Jasper Fforde and your question made me realize that I want to live there, in the Ununited Kingdoms!

Elesa Pride and Prejiduce.....or Jane Eyre. Those books have always made me want to go on location.

message 19: by Doo (new) - rated it 5 stars

Doo Ree yes! I wish my life was much more magical like the lives of characters in fantasy books :F

Laura I spent most of sixth, seventh, and eighth grades in Middle Earth (Lord of the Rings). I was a Maiar, who took the form of an elf, who was close to Gandalf. Had a whole alternate story going on in parallel with the main story. The memory is as real to me as my real life!

Miriam Pia Yesm, but no. Interestingly enough it seems to have been similar to what Laura posted. I created a fictional version of myself - or a quasi self, which I had already learned to do for playing dungeons and dragons...and developed the ability to lucid dream by trying to make it so that I would have at least one dream about "me" as a character within the Lord of the Rings realm. Nowadays I mostly only lucid dream about bathrooms when I need to wake up in the middle of the night to go use the toilet. Not very exciting, but practical.

Laura Miriam wrote: "Yesm, but no. Interestingly enough it seems to have been similar to what Laura posted. I created a fictional version of myself - or a quasi self, which I had already learned to do for playing dung..."

Miriam, I'm with you on that bathroom dreaming thing. :)

Erica Sometimes I'll read a really intense book, or one with a memorable character, and I'll imagine having conversations with them about absolutely whatever I'm thinking about. I explain cars and TV very plainly to characters from fantasy or historical fiction, talk psycho villains out of killing me, and argue with characters I just didn't like. Then after a few months it gets so annoying that I have to force myself to stop doing it so I can finally think normally again. But then I read another book and the whole thing starts all over.
I really wish I could dream myself into a world of adventure like Miriam. That alone sounds like a plot for a novel.

Debbie I would love to live in some of the books I have read. Probley because the authors discription is so real. It makes you feel like you could live there, as if that were your world. The fantasy of it all, is that we all want to live there. That`s what makes the books so great.

Natalie Of course...that's why I envy Thursday Next so very much!

Margo As a child I longed to go to Narnia and later I wanted to walk the moors with Heathcliff. I heard Jack Gantos speak and he talked about losing yourself in a book. That you should want to get so wrapped up in a character that you have conversations in your head with him or her as your walking down the street. I could totally relate!

Lindis Russell All the time! Harry Potter, Twilight, Narnia, Hunger Games, House of Night, Outlander, Camelot, Middle Earth, Bon Temps. Anytime the author writes the setting so well that I can picture it in my mind. I find myself wondering what my role in that world would be. Would I be a hero, the person in charge, the one being saved, or just another villager, another face in the crowd. This is one reason that I love to read so much!

message 28: by C. J. (new) - added it

C. J. Scurria Okay, I take back partially what I said in Message 14. I just remembered the book I last read in the Narnia series which was "The Silver Chair." When I was reading the beginning I was so glad on the "times" I had exploring Narnia, it felt like I had known it from long ago. And I think I did wish that I would go to Narnia while reading it as they traveled to the land of Talking Beasts.

Virginia Often! And yes I envy Thursday Next as well, but I'd be more like
the understudy!

message 30: by Heather (new)

Heather Many many times! I find I get attached to the characters and love the escape of an alternate reality.

message 33: by Kel (new)

Kel I would love to live in most of the books that I read, but I think the Tiger books are the ones I would love to be in the most. It is not hard to pretend I am Kelsey, because my name is Kelcy so I always pretend we are one and the same! It would also be nice to go to Hogwarts one day and learn how to mix potions!

Lauren Natalie wrote: "Of course...that's why I envy Thursday Next so very much!"

Virginia Dakota wrote: "I don't mean to be rude, but the question is somewhat, well...stupid. We read books to live in that world for a time before moving on to the next. Anytime you read a book you have "moved in" to it."

Not every time you read a book do you gain that access, but it is one of my criteria for what I consider a good one!

Karla I live in a book each time I read one...

message 39: by Will (new) - rated it 4 stars

Will IV That sounds familiar ;)

Grace When I first read The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (my first ever encounter of the Chronicles), I earnestly wished Narnia was real so I could go there next time I stare at a picture. :)

Natalie When I first read Lion, Witch and Wardrobe, I was opening every wardrobe in every house I've visited and searching for fauns;)
And yes. I wish I could live in a lot of books, for ewample in Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, His Dark Materials, Mortal Instruments or Percy Jackson.

Frankie Robertson I loved the Chronicles of Narnia and reread them still. But I lived in MiddleEarth for a while, and cried when I came to the end of Alexander Lloyd's Chronicles of Prydain.

message 43: by Gabrielle (new)

Gabrielle Alice in Wonderland! I cry sometimes because it will hit me now and then that HEY THERE IS NO MAD HATTER OR WHITE RABBIT OR RED QUEEN and I will just cry. ;)

Nikks Debbie wrote: "I would love to live in some of the books I have read. Probley because the authors discription is so real. It makes you feel like you could live there, as if that were your world. The fantasy of it..."

I totally agree, you cant beat a well written book for transporting you off to other worlds and times. Not all of them are nice, so I'm glad to be just visiting. lol

message 45: by Kari (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kari I so loved the Narnia Chronicles that when I saw the movie for the first time, I cried because it felt like I was meeting old friends. I usually do not like to watch movies based on books that I am fond of, but I found this time to be different. I always wished for Aslan's breath, etc as a child and teen. As an adult, I often miss that innocence and comfort found in those pages.

Mimi ❤ Funny, I've always imagined myself as Lucy whenever I read the book or watched the movie

Tamara Figueroa Definitely Harry Potter world and Hex Hall's.

Michele Brenton I do live in a book. We all live in the book we are making of our own lives. Imagine the library!

The books we read are worlds in other dimensions and somewhere in another dimension again - somebody is reading your life in the book they hold in their hands.

Are you being an interesting character and are you one of the good guys or the bad guys?

Well maybe not. But you never know - might be worth considering. You are more interesting than you may think you are.

Jacey Living in a book is only going to be fun or fulfilling if you can be whichever character you wish to be. Imagine being yourself and being dumped into some of those live-or-die situations. I mean - it's the job of an author to put her character through hell. You really want to be a character with at least half a chance of surviving.

Nikks Haha I like that. You could be yourself but better - with all these super powers that the author never even dreamed of.
