Marni (wonderwmn999) For those like me, who depend on the library for the newer, pricier books, let's see what treasures you're enjoying. :)

message 2: by Marni (new)

Marni (wonderwmn999) Where We Belong by Emily Giffin Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth (rereading)

message 3: by David (new)

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 1269 comments Nice finds! Particularly Divergent :) since I'm travelling, libraries are less of an option so I've been treating the used bookstore like a library. I recently got Cinder by Marissa Meyer and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

message 4: by Caedy (new)

Caedy Eries (karida) | 5 comments David, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is an awesome book. I've read it already. Still haven't read Cinder yet.

Recently got Falling Immortality Casey Holden, Private Investigator by Robert Downs , Voluspa A Magical World by Sam D. , and Pearl Lover by Kea Noli .

The first two are in trade copy paperbacks from the authors, and the last is an ebook copy that I need to read for review :)

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 1269 comments Cool! Can't wait to dig my teeth into it. Rarr!!!

message 6: by Marni (new)

Marni (wonderwmn999) Cinder was good, can't wait for Scarlet. Rereading Divergent because I got Insurgent from the library but it had been too long since I read the first and was confused.

I go to the library three or four times a week. I love the library but they don't have what I want 45% of the time. I have to be on a waiting list it I have to have the book ordered. Its very frustrating.

message 9: by David (new)

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 1269 comments Cool, that lucky day program is an awesome idea and you've certainly been lucky with it!!

Alejandra (Allie) (lost_at_hogwarts) In my library you can't put books that haven't come out yet on hold. My library always has every book I want (especially the newer ones) and in the rare case that they don't have it they will buy a copy if you request. Right now I have City of Lost Souls and the Golden Lily on hold. I'm number 33 on the wait list for CoLS and number 5 on the wait list for the Golden Lily. The reason I'm number 33 is that I forgot to check the library's website everyday for the holding process to start for CoLS and by the time I knew it there were 32 people on the waiting list. I recently checked out a book called Tears of a Tiger. It's pretty good! It's about a boy who accidently kills his best friend during a car crash while drinking and driving. He has to deal with the guilt and depression. The book is told in notes, poems, school assignments, etc. and it includes the point of view of other students who know the main character and the best friend that died. On another note, I LOVED Cinder (borrowed it from my library a month after it came out) and I can't wait for Scarlet to come out. I do rely on my library a lot since I don't really have a lot of money to spend on books.

message 11: by Marni (new)

Marni (wonderwmn999) I've always got books on hold. Unfortunately, the only ones I can tell where I am on the wait list is with the ebooks. It seems that my holds like to all come in at the same time. :)

message 12: by chinami (new)

That happens to me as well Marni. I won't have anything come in for weeks then they all come in.

message 19: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 453 comments The same thing happens to me! And then I get weird looks in the library for trying to balance so many. O_o

I loved the first two, but I was kind of iffy with the third. The love triangle was handled wrong to me, and there were too many unanswered questions. I'm hoping the Kill Orders clears some things up.

message 24: by Jody (new)

Jody @Rebecca, there were questions left and from the reviews i read, i dont think they get cleared up much at all. The Kill Order happens 13 years before the maze.

Did you end up reading The Book Thief? I almost bought it the other day at the used book store, but I ended up leaving it behind as it wasn't one of the cheaper ones there and I wasn't sure about it. I hadn't heard any talk about it.

message 27: by Marylene (new)

Marylene | 38 comments I used to love the library when my daughter was young. These days I don't have anywhere near as much time as I'd like to have to read, so I don't usually do library books in case I can't get through them in a reasonable time. I always felt guilty when I had to extend/renew. Plus sometimes you weren't able to if someone else waiting for the book.

Neddie Marylene...The Book Thief is one of the best books I have ever read! I couldn't put it down. The story is narrated by Death...it's an amazing story. I was almost in tears reading some parts of this book. This book is worth any price.

I don't know what I would do without the library!

message 37: by Marylene (new)

Marylene | 38 comments You just need to click on the "add book/author" right above the comment box to add a picture or link. It is cool. I haven't been in the library in forever, but I might get there more often now that the used book store down the street from my house is closing down on Christmas Eve.

Michelle Kobus (rainbowsunset) I love libraries, but I'm afraid to check out any books! Sometimes I just leave a book somewhere, turn my back to get a drink or whatnot, and all of a sudden, my one cat will be on it like she's trying to dig to China! I'm more careful now, but sometimes she still mangles a cover or an index page here and there lol.

I've just noticed this. Thanks so much. I have heard that from pretty much everyone now and I have since bought it, but I'm not sure when I will get around to reading it. It's not on my challenge list as of now, and i don't know that i can do any more than my list. I will definitely end up reading it though.

My library has a database called Overdrive. They let us borrow books through Amazon, and other reading devices.
