Thanks! It's just I'm reluctant to try NA because almost all the synopses read something like, "This girl is beautiful and classy (with a mysterious/traumatic past) and this guy is a super hot badboy/guy-next-door-with-a-secret and they fall in love but some secret tears them apart". I'm done with cliche YA love triangles, so I don't want to go deeper down the "forbidden love" path.
Maybe I'll try Ten Tiny Breaths when I'm in a particularly generous mood :)

Ten Tiny Breaths would be okay, but most other NA I've read is all about the romance. Ten Tiny Breaths was way more character development, though, and the romance was really a backseat driver.

Adena Wright (adenaw) I'm about halfway through Hitchers by Will McIntosh and Miracles by C.S. Lewis and I started Full Dark, No Stars by Stephen King a couple days ago.

I'm trying to broaden my genres a little :)

I think it really depends on the book. A lot of the ones I read are contemporary romances which may not be your thing but there are others sub-genres as well. NA books tend to be books where the characters are between 18-26.

Have you read Pushing the Limits? It's YA, but I loved it. Ten Tiny Breaths kind of reminded me of PtL. However, that description could fit it, but there's so much more going on that I loved it!

Kritika (spidersilksnowflakes) Thanks DeAnna, Jenny, and Katelyn! Ten Tiny Breaths sounds better now that you've all assured me that it's not all about the romance.
I haven't read Pushing the Limits or Dare You To for the same reason I said I was hesitant to try NA - it seemed too romance-heavy from the description. Maybe I should be less judgmental of books by their descriptions haha

message 4241: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments I loved the series Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis and I'm with David - the third book Shades of Earth (Across the Universe, #3) by Beth Revis is the best IMO -

I also loved Ready Player One by Ernest Cline - especially the audio which is narrated by Wil Wheaton and which refers to him in the text (so he's narrating about himself, which is hilarious and ironic)

Right now I'm listening to Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine, #1) by Ransom Riggs although I do have the softcover. And . . . my kid hijacked it and put it with her boxes of stuff to take to college - so I told her she could have it and I'd just get another one. The things I do for these girls!

I DNF'd Across the Universe. Maybe it was the poor narration, but I just didn't care about the story at all. I'm disappointed because a lot of people have loved it!

I know nothing about Ready Player One other than the fact that one of my blogger friends recommends this one constantly, so I may be trying it out shortly.
