Loved BZRK! Agreed it's a bit confusing at first but once you get the hang of the world, it's pretty crazy-creative!

Ashly (ashlyh) I'm reading Evil Librarian by Michelle Knudsen Its funny and I'm really liking it. I'm also reading The End Games by T. Michael Martin . Its slow but it has twists that are really good.

I need to read that one, Kynndra! I read the first two books with Jenny and we've talked about reading the 3rd together. Just so many other books keep getting in the way. :)

Oh, it's such a great series - really addicted to it right now and definitely recommend continuing c: glad you guys have read the first two.

Would you recommend the series to someone who isn't big on romance? I don't mind romance, even when central to the story, depending on what the story is about/how good it is. With this series, though, I've only seen people talk about the romance so I'm undecided on whether I should jump in or not.

Storm Arashi (stormarashi) | 1130 comments I just finished The Selection (The Selection, #1) by Kiera Cass (and I finally figured out how to do the cover add thing) man... It was great! I loved it and I can't wait to read The Elite!

But that'll wait until the weekend. I still got some horror books to finish... I'm just happy that I broke my "Read a great book, read a crappy book." pattern. Cause I had fallen into that lately.

Down a Dark Hall - Great book!

Angel of Death - Crappy book.

Name of the Star - Great book!

This is Not A Test - Crap book.

Undivided - Great book.

The Selection - Great book.

I'm not going to lie - love is a central plot in the story - however, there is a lot more than that. There is a lot of evil and good, the aliens face a lot of issues, Kat especially in the second book deals with her own change. As long as you're not bothered by the obvious romance, the series has quite a bit to it - it really causes you suspense, I recommend it Tommy but I can't say if you'd be into it (it's very much based on the reader) the writing is good, I love the characters, they've definitely kept me hooked c:

Teresa Tommy, I was so not a fan of Obsidian. I know many people loved it. It's mostly a love story-if you call treating a girl like crap and her still falling for you love. Just throwing my 2 cents in here. Hopefully I didn't offend any diehard fans.

I wasn't a great big fan of Obsidian either. I thought the first half read like Twilight. ;-P

But I did like the 2nd book better once it veered off in a new direction from the Twilight direction it started in. I do plan on reading Opal so I liked it enough to continue.

Maybe I should try Opal then. I didn't think the actual story in Obsidian was that bad it was just the awful way the male lead acted that I couldn't get past.

message 9565: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 51 comments I really liked Obsidian, mainly because it made me laugh so much. Yeah, he was a jerk, but I kind of got WHY he was. Anyways, I haven't read the next two yet, I need to though!! There are just so many books to read!!

And I just have to say... Hex RULES.

He did treat her terribly - but in the next books it explains why he did (a understandable reason as well). And he makes up for his harsh treatment later on - he never did it just because he wanted to, he felt like he had to. Like I said, it all depends on the readers taste c:

Yes, I also loved the humor. Such amusing characters. I highly recommend continuing! It gets better after the first (I liked the first but it still does get better!).

All the nanotechnology bits are going right through me. I don't understand any of it. I'm beginning to think it's a waste of my time to keep reading.
Which is a shame, because Grant wrote my favourite series ever.

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 4472 comments It's interesting seeing what everyone's been reading and what they thought of the books.

I don't usually post what I'm reading on here, because most of the time I go through books way too quickly, and I don't want to fill up the thread with my recent reads. But right now trying to figure out how to work my new Kindle has slowed me down a lot, so I've been reading a book called "The Literature Of The Ancient Egyptians" for several days now. I would usually have a fictional book on the go at the same time as a non-fiction one, but I decided one book was enough while I'm figuring out how to work the Kindle, and decided to use the non-fiction book so I don't lose any of the story thread while learning to navigate the menus, make it read to me, etc.
