David and I are starting a buddy read for starting Thursday Oct 23rd! Everyone is welcome to join!

There are no set chapters per day, we just read at our own paces and start each post with how far along you are, i.e., Chapter #, %, using spoilers where needed. Have fun!

Finally im done reading somthing so I can join a buddy read. I hate reading more then one book at a time, although I have fallen into that by accident a few times. But im freeeee to start new YAY!

Really enjoyed this book but wasn't as invested in book 2. If you guys continue the series, I'm in for book 3 if you stay with it. :)

Okay, I just started it today, and I'm up to 14%. I really enjoyed the first chapter, the beginning where (view spoiler)[ They were being chased by zombies and had that cool motorcycle stunt. (hide spoiler)] After that, the read has slowed down for me a lot. Mostly a huge info dump at the moment, although I do think some things are cool about this world, like how bloggers are now really the news, things like that. Also love how detailed this all is. But I'm ready for something to really happen now!

Im on chapter 5 and snore. The first couple chapters were good learning about the disease and some zombies attacking. But now its not so great, rather dull. Unfortunately I'm not into politics or journalists so that makes it worse. The parent and child/adult relationship is throwing me off as well. I do like zombies tho so I hope this picks up. Just having a hard time relating to the characters. And at first I thought the characters were both boys, the teasing one being that of a younger foolish boy and the other the older more responsible one. When at chapter 2 it clarified George was a girl I had to readjust my thinking, again making it hard to have emotional ties to the characters.

This is definately a different kind of zombie book and I really enjoyed the different take. It has a lot of politics but there is also plenty of action throughout.

Okay I'm up to 30% (view spoiler)[ FINALLY!! Was dying for something to happen, and happen with a bang it did! This political race just got a whole lot more interesting! I could do without all the tech detail though. (hide spoiler)]

Although I thought the beginning was relatively exciting, the whole motorcycle thing was just a little too over the top for me. There just happened to be a part of a fence gate at the perfect angle on the road at the top of the hill sending them flying over a horde of zombies? LOL

I was actually sort of the opposite from the rest of you guys, I've enjoyed the whole political/journalist thing. I was expecting the same old/same old zombie book where the world is in shambles. Instead, seems like things are running pretty much the same, which is an interesting spin. For some reason I didn't find it boring even though there wasn't much action until the part Jenny mentioned around 30% (which was an awesome scene by the way).

I'm at 39% and enjoying the read despite the fact that I think you have to really suspend belief as I don't really understand why the government (which is still intact apparently), doesn't exterminate the zombies and restore order. Seems if they're capable of having national elections they could systematically eradicate the zoms. Just my opinion :)

But other than that, I'm really into the read!

I wasn't really bored, it was more of it just didn't fit in well, the whole flow of the book. I don't really like a lot of info dumping, especially in first person narrative. If this was third person it might make more sense. I am forgiving it because I did find it all really interesting. And also, the more I learn more about George, the more it seems these could be her normal thoughts. She's seriously just that kind of person.

Yes, that last scene I read was AWESOME! Well, last few scenes really. I'm ready for some intensity!

I have to say I really love Shaun! And Buffy :) These are some great characters.

Yes, I also think its weird that the government is running pretty much as normal. I don't understand how there isn't total anarchy. If people are still dying pretty regularly (like it sounds) I can't imagine they'd just fall in line for a normalish election! But it is an interesting concept, not something I've read before!

Its also interesting to be reading this right before our own election! LOL I'm so ready for the election to be over. So sick of Bruce Braley and Joni Ernst ads! There are seriously just about every commerical we have during Primetime.

And yes, I'm enjoying this read too! I think the whole bloggers having all this power over the public is so cool!

I enjoyed every aspect of this book as it was a different take on zombies. I like how it's just business as usual.

I'm guessing the whole bloggers being used to help his campaign thing was inspired by Obama's campaign. That was the first thing I thought of considering how big social media was for him, with the goal of getting the under 35s out to vote. Rock the Vote! LOL

Okay I'm up to 50% now and HOLY CRAP did it just get good!! (view spoiler)[ I KNEW something weird was going on--their ranch gets compromised and their oldest daughter DIES on the night of the Primary? Yeah, right, no way that was an accident! The needle though...shudders. I feel really bad for the horses and the staff, that had to have been horrible! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[That REALLY reminded me of the show Scandal, not sure if anyone watches it? Well, something similar happens and it helps a candidate win the presidency.

It also seemed like the grief of the parents was totally downplayed, I'm not sure if that was intentional due to the way the world works these days--everyone expects their loved ones to die sooner of later--or if the author just chose to make the parents really stalwart people. Not sure. I would've been a disaster and I don't even have kids yet! (hide spoiler)]

78% Gah, I can't believe (view spoiler)[Buffy was such a traitor. In my opinion she got off easy by dying. She should've had to live with her terrible decisions. She could've gotten them ALL killed. Once she knew she was in over her head, she should've come clean rather than continuing to put them all in danger. I still don't really understand her motivations? She didn't think Ryman would be a good president? Huh? Based on what? I get the impression it had something to do with her religious beliefs maybe, but she seemed to constantly contradict those with her actions. I'm not sure I'll ever understand her. Good riddance! I like Georgia, Shaun, and Rick way better anyway :) (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Yes, I agree. I really liked her up until the point where she started to "panic" and wanted to quit the campaign. Then I thought she was a wimp. NOW she's a traitor. UGH. Yes, Love Georgia, Shaun, and Rick a lot more. Especially Shaun. I'm sure there's still lots to learn! I'm still wondering about Ryman though...is he really too good to be true? (hide spoiler)]

I'm at 86% now. Wow. (view spoiler)[Ryman was SUCH a jerk at the event when all she's doing is trying to help him. Seemed out of character for him, but maybe he's just under too much emotional stress and turmoil to handle any other bad news right now. I still HATED his choice of running mate. And now they're under blatant attack! I thought the whole cat-killing thing was a little weird and over the top. That's what alerted them to the danger and saved their life, so why would their attackers do that? Otherwise the explosions would've easily killed them. What I am curious about though is where the heck that dart came from? They could've just shot her dead instead. I have a feeling there's about to be a major twist. (hide spoiler)]

WOW is right! I'm at the same place (view spoiler)[ I was PISSED at Ryman, he was being a jerk. I'm thinking that yes, he doesn't want to admit there's a problem. I'm not sure what was up with the cat either, unless that was done by someone else. Yeah, have to keep reading to find out what happens with the dart!! (hide spoiler)]

Finished! Gah! That ending, I absolutely loved it. (view spoiler)[I wish this was a standalone considering how Georgia died, going to be hard to read a sequel with out her. I think this is the first book I've read where 2 of the main 3 characters at the beginning died. And yet, it felt appropriate considering the challenges they faced. Overall, a pretty awesome twist on the zombie book. (hide spoiler)]

OMG I LOVED the ending too! Such feels especially (view spoiler)[the last few moments in the van and when Shaun and Mahir met in person. THAT totally made me tear up! Tearing up thinking about it actually! WOW...that ending...totally did not expect that ending! Yeah, the sequel will be hard to read without Georgia. (hide spoiler)] Overall, I really enjoyed reading this one! Completely unexpected, but once I got used to the world and the style, I was totally hooked, especially the last half of the book. I do want to read the sequel, if I ever get a copy.
