2012 August Pick It For Me! Challenge

Ruth Ann, ..."
My apologies to you Sandy. I did not see your previous message about our buddy read. Can we begin on Sunday? I have a seminar I must attend on Saturday for my job.

Hi, just now saw this. I can start tonight.
I started a buddy read thread here

So sorry these are late - I completely spaced on the date. Here are my picks for you - I hope you find one (or two) that you will enjoy!
1. Superman: Poughkeepsie - I really love this book. Not really sure what genre I would call it but it seems a bit out of your norm.
2. Green Lantern: Blood Promise - I find it hard to believe that you started the Vampire Academy books and didn't finish them. I had to devour them all.
3. Batman: Savor the Moment - can't really go wrong with Nora.
4. Wolverine: Warrior's Cross - I am about 65% through this book right now. I love these guys.
5. The Hulk: These Things Hidden - very emotional. One of those books that you need to recover from before you can jump into another book.
6. Wonder Woman: Storm Born - you won't regret it. It took me forever to get this off of my TBR and I was kicking myself.
7. Thor: Tempted - not the greatest writing but definitely a steamy cover.

BUDDY READS:
8. Spider-man: Storm of Visions - this book has been sitting on my TBR a long time. I would love to have a reason to move it along.
9. Captain America: The School for Heiresses - I own this book but have not been motivated to read it.

Sorry Yz - they are up now."
No problem. Just happy to finally get my recs. :)
Hmm...lots of good titles. I have to think about which one/s I'm going to read.

Heaven and Hell by Kristen Ashley. While I did enjoy this book it ended up being my least favorite Kristen Ashley. I gave it 3 stars. I just did not fall in love with the male lead in this book like I have with the other ones.
Bound by Your Touch by Meredith Duran. I liked this book but it felt incomplete to me. I would have loved an epilogue. It ends with a lot of unsolved issues. I gave it 3 stars with an epilogue though I would have given it 4.
Skin Game by Ava Gray. I am really glad you picked this book for me. Its been on my tbr list for awhile and I just haven’t gotten around to it. I loved the couples dynamic and I have always been a sucker for books with women who can kick ass. I gave it 3.5 Stars.

Big thanks to all the volunteers.
Fran picks for Regina P
Regina picks for Tiffany
Tiffany picks for Emily
Emily picks for Irina
Dee picks for Layla
Elke picks for Shell
Vi picks for Isabella
Carrie picks for Lindy

It was fun browsing through your shelves. I've made a mix of books that are on your TBR and some that are not. Please let me know if you don't like any of your picks and I'll redo them for you.
1. Superman:
1. The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde - One of the most weird book premises ever. But I enjoyed it completely.
2. Beguiling the Beauty by Sherry Thomas - You don't seem to have read any historical. Sherry Thomas is one of my favorite historical writer on auto-buy. An added bonus is that the leads in this book are brainy.

2. Green Lantern:
1.Bloodfever by Karen Marie Moning - While I didn't like the first two books in the series, it does get better from book 3 onwards. It's good to see Mac developing over the series.
2. Caressed By Ice by Nalini Singh - Psy-Changelings is one of my favorite PNR series and CBI is one of my favorite in the whole series. I strongly recommend you continue the series till the end.

3. Batman:
1. Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie - One of the better contemporaries out there with a brainy accountant female lead.
2. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin - I loved, loved this book by GRRM.

4. Wolverine:
1. The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks - A dark fantasy with an assassin as the main lead. Fitting, right? The book has so many twists and turns that you can't foresee all.
2. Magic Burns by Ilona Andrews - So the main lead and the best friend of Kate are both shapeshifters. You need to continue the series as it gets awesome.

5. The Hulk:
1. Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah - I read this book for a challenge and I cried at the end. It's really good.
2. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green - I heard from some friends that this is an emotional read and some even had tears in their eyes. I'm passing this rec to you.

6. Wonder Woman:
1. Something About You by Julie James - How strong would a woman to be to work as ….
2. Moon Called by Patricia Briggs - Mercy is one of strongest female lead in the Urban Fantasy World. Over the series, we see her grow stronger in so many different ways.

7. Thor:
1. Riding the Storm by Sydney Croft - I haven't read this series but I have heard that it is hot.
2. The Darkest Hour by Maya Banks - From the cover, need I say more?

BUDDY READS:
I don't think I can do any buddy reads this month as I'm already committed to some already.
8. Spider-man:
1. Watchmen by Alan Moore
2. The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood

9. Captain America:
These are the two of the buddy reads I'm committed this month. You are welcome to join me in the buddy read.

2. Keegan's Lady by Catherine Anderson - I'm hoping to do this BR with Jim who recommended it to me for the PIFM.

I finished Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs and I absolutely loved it! I don't think it was as good as Iron Kissed, but some serious sh*t went down in the end of that book and I would like Mercy to recover a bit before we start crawling through the muck again. I love this series though, I love how coyote-like mercy is! FIVE STARS!

I guess i need repicks
I dont' even know what a TBR on here is, it must be to be read, but since I use the library I pick as I go. Let see what I can do.
Lindy you have no books in your tbr, this is gonna be tricky but I can do it.
I have an early morning appointment so I'll get your picks up when I get out of that.

Glad to here you enjoyed Skin Game. I've enjoyed what I've read of the series so far. There are more talents out there and Skin Tight goes a bit into where they come from. I keep meaning to get around to book 3, but haven't yet.

I believe that Carrie picked for you on message 326. You should pick something to read for the month for this challenge from there. I don't think you need to do any more picking for someone else (less I'm reading the posts wrong). Some just had to repick FOR you. Other people use your TBR (To Be Read) list (books that you find you want to read) to make your recommendations for the "Pick it for Me" Challenge.

Thanks for stepping in, Shell!

No problem!
I am actually going out of town tomorrow for a few days. I can start on Tuesday. Of course you can start whenever works best for you! :-) I'll set up a buddy read thread. Thanks!

I've sent her a message to let her know her picks have been made, just waiting to see if there is anything there she can work with. If not I guess I'll have to try again, lol.

Oh, it's no problem. Thank you very much for doing this :)

Great picks Elke! I think I'm going to try for

Just finished my first August PIFM, The Darkest Seduction. While it was just an okay read (not as angsty as Paris' story should've been, then again, the guy has suffered enough), I'm excited about the new developments in the series. Thanks for the pick!
Done:

I know! I just finished the book that was supposed to be the filler before August started!
