or, You could combine my "want to read" list with my "1001-books" list. Between the two, they are all on there.
Then see how many of those you have read.

You'll need a shelf of books read that you want counted.

Thanks, I just did that and saved it so now I have a way to keep track.

Congratulations!"
Thanks! I just did a reconciliation to make sure, and it's actually 196. :-) I have quite a few on the list as TBR. I am not planning to read the entire list, but I will use it as a guide.

Congratulations!"
Way to go. I too will never read them all, but I do like to use the list as a guide. I have found a few books there that I probably would never have read otherwise.

When you hit 200 you should post it to the Milestones topic:

I will do that, thanks! I have no plans to read them all, but it's nice to track the milestones as we go along.

It's not impressive, but damn it I'm 16 and trying."
Well I am 65 and have only read 78. You have plenty of time!!

I also read 169 and am presently reading my 170th title (it will either be Their Eyes Were Watching God or Don Quixote, depending on which one I finish first).

I really enjoyed Don Quixote. I own Their Eyes Were Watching God, I am hoping to read it next year!

Happy New Year everyone and thanks for all the communal support going on. It's nice to know that we are not alone in this trudge towards reading immortality.
I‘m at 476 from the combined list. My goal for 2020 is 525 but I hope to reach 550 actually.
Happy new year everyone and good luck with your reading goals!

with 74 books, but I have to say that I feel that most lists always tend to use the titles of English literature, even if they seem to be of little value, and at the same time skip interesting titles and writers of other languages. Do you know a version of the list where more non-English literature and the most important ancient literary works are listed?

St John's College has an Eastern Classics program. The list of their reading material is pretty impressive--here's a Goodreads list of the titles:

and here's a list of reading from the classical world:

Hope that points you in a direction you'd like to go
