I know! But, I spent some time today figuring out what books to read, and have now completed a couple. Yeah!

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments ... I've got to get started! Good job so far!

message 9: by Lara (new)

Lara | 1426 comments Thanks Cheryl and Maria. I'll have to slow down soon as I don't have the books yet for most of the remaining categories. I'm hoping to pick up a couple from the library after I move later this month.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Good luck with your move - hope you like your new digs!

Thanks Cheryl. We really like our new house and neighborhood. I just want to get through all the work we're having done and the move so I can enjoy them.

message 12: by Lara (new)

Lara | 1426 comments Whew. I managed to get my blue book from the library. That was a good thing as we've just moved and I don't have space for all of my books as it is. And it got me started back on wanting to read library books instead of just buying them all.

message 13: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Libraries are good things. I'm struggling to read my owned books, several hundreds of them, and get them out of the apartment, because I know we're going to be moving in a few years (empty nest coming on).

That's why I'm doing so well on these challenges - Janice makes it feasible for me to find books I own to read for them. This Olympic Toppler now, I'm not sure what I can read for Judy.... :)

I love libraries. Of course, I also have a ton of books and even more ebooks. However, as I find books I want to read that I don't own, I need to switch to libraries rather than my pocketbook. The amount I spend on books each year is amazing.

Are you looking forward to downsizing your home? I hated the moving process as still have some things at my old house I need to pick up (but have nowhere to put). In some ways I'm fortunate as we're selling to a family member who is renting for a couple of months while her credit clears up. At the same time, I wish we had the money from the sale.

message 15: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) It can be really hard to downsize. We did quite a bit when we moved from the house to this apartment last year, as we also went from 5 people to 3. The last kid gone and the books will make a big difference and I do look forward to being 'lighter.' I'm very sensitive to clutter and crowded shelves, so yes I am looking forward to it.

I hope keeping the house in the family like that works out. I admire your courage, taking a chance and helping her out somewhat. I've been burned every time I tried to help someone, but then I've been too trusting and not gotten anything signed or anything, either.

You sound like my husband. When I thought a box of books had gone missing after the move, he was glad. Of course, I think that there is no such thing as too many books. However, I do clean out my library every once in a while. I still have a lot, but can remove a good number.

My niece has a lot of other family support through the process. She is young and has not been terribly careful with her credit, but she is pretty responsible, so I'm not worried.
