I think you are referring to one of the teams in the current team challenge - Tower Teams III. The sign up thread is HERE. You can put your details down there and you will go on the reserve list. Once a spot opens up, you will be added to a team.

I would like to provide a limited number of free copies of my ebooks for the avid readers here. How would I do this?
A Backed Up John: A Story of Gods, Goddess, Mortals, and the Odd Stuff In-between

Hi Michael,
You can start a new discussion thread in our Freebies and Discounts folder for members to request a copy. Just be clear what your requirements are for providing a copy (for example, so you need a review to be posted) and the format you are providing the copy in

Hi Jessica.
Well, tracking challenges is mostly individual. Some use pencil & paper, some spreadsheets, some create threads in groups they are doing challenges and some have separate groups where they keep track.
Here are few links where members discussed same thing. Maybe you'll find something helpful.
Help?? Tracking your challenges
How Many Challenges?
I started keeping track of my challenges in each group I was part of, but when that became to hard to track (since I have little addiction problem with challenges) I created private group where I have all my links and challenges. Now, since I rarely plan what I'm gonna read, I usually go through my challenges after I'm done with book to see where I can fit it. It can be little time consuming. ☺
I can't really tell you how to do it. You have to find what works for you. ;)

For example, if I wanted to link to The Girl on the Train but I wanted to bold one word so it looked like "The Girl on the Train".
Is that even possible?

Yes, but not using GR's add book thing. You need to do it like any other link with <a href> thing
The Girl on the Train
(view spoiler)

Wow. I see few questions in there :)
Let's start with simple(r) one.
If you're using GR site, above your post box you'll see add book/author. Click on it, enter book/author you're searching for, and when you found it press add. That will give you link to the book/author. If you want to add cover, go to the bottom of the pop-up window and mark covers. image
If you want to post new book to your already existing post, find that post and on bottom of it you'll see reply/edit/delete/flag. pres on edit, and rest is as explained above. image
Now, if you're using GR app, I'm sorry to say, you're out of luck. As far as I know, there is no edit posts, no adding books or covers (or at least no easy way to add them - you need to add them like links or images)
For making recommendations to your friends, check this thread
Also there is option when you open book you want to recommend, in right upper corner (above Readers also enjoyed) you'll see Recommend it | Stats | Recent status updates. Click on recommend it and chose friends you want it recommended to.
Again I'm not sure if that option exists on GR app.
I think I got it all. ☺

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me. I also get, on my e-mail, pictures of books from Goodreads members that they have either rated, or are reading now, or want to read. They don't have anything but the picture. If you place the cursor over the picture, of course you get the blurb about the book and whether you have read it, and your rating, or want to read it. So is this the same thing?

Mail works differently and I don't think you can influence what others will see. Everyone can set them to get what they want.
And sadly no, you can't make it like in mail with cursor. You can post covers, but only info you'll get with them is title and author and maybe series. No blurbs, ratings or shelfs. You can go to right thread and test it out.
All threads in GR 101 (this section of the group) are meant to give you tips and give you space for practice.

Kathy, are you talking about how you see what people are reading and what they want to read when you look in the "Updates" section of the app or website? You may have selected to have all this information sent to you via email too.
Check your settings in "Edit Profile"(The little drop down arrow next to the photo of you at the top right of the page) Make sure you tick the boxes of the things you want to share to the updates feed. You can select here what information you want emailed and what you want notifications for.
When you add a book to one of your shelves (currently reading, read, to read, or any others you want to make) that information will come up on the update feed for your friends to see. For more details on how to add a book to your shelves, look in the My Books section in the Goodreads Help Topics - https://www.goodreads.com/help
To recommend a book to one of your friends, look up the book then scroll down the page past "My Review" and at the bottom on the right of "Friend Reviews" there is "Recommend this book..."

Again, thanks. I have a lot of books on Goodreads and enjoy members' discussion and recommendations.

If you go to "My Books" and search the title, it will bring up every edition you have saved. Then on the right side there will be a light gray "x" that you can click and it will ask you if you want to delete/remove the book. Just hit yes and the one you don't need will be gone.
If you are only trying to switch editions (in the future) what you want to do is hover over the cover on the book's main page. A little option will appear that says "Other editions". Click on that and it will take you to a list of all the editions of that books. On the left side of every edition will be a button that says "Switch to this edition". That will change the one you have saved and everything you add (progress and date read and such) will be saved to that.
Hopefully that helps!

Thanks!

Is there a way to post a book you've read to a challenge thread? I just can't imagine that one must enter the book in say 15 different group threads. Hmmmm, maybe I can be more specific....
Let's say I belong to 15 groups, each one has some sort of reading challenge and I've read a book that fits the criteria for all 15 group challenges but I'm tired of entering that book to 15 different threads.
I'm sure it has to do with linking and I saw something pertaining to that but, alas, I don't understand--it could be that it's late and I've been sick for 4 days but if someone could help me muddle through I would be grateful. After typing in 80 books to one thread I'm exhausted.
This is the first group I've found that has all kinds of how-to information available. Thank you.
Oh, if it makes a difference to the instruction I have a Mac.

You could use copy/paste function after first one of course.
What I usually do: I put book info I'd like to have in my challenges (title, author, read date, rating) in txt and then just open each of challenges and copy paste info. I know it's lot of work (especially if you are like me and have too many challenges - I stopped counting after 30 :P). so if anyone has better idea, I'm all for it.

You could use copy/paste function after first one of course.
What I..."
Thank you Tea. I do the copy/paste process when I can but some groups have very specific requirements. I was just tired from posting my whole year of books on one thread....whew! Of course if I wouldn't save it for the last minute and update them all year long, but then again, that would be too easy. Hehe
Maybe I should send this request to the GR tech gurus and see if they'd be interested.....oh what a happy day many would have.
Now I must go back to the how-to's and find out what the linking does. I really do like this section of threads. Thanks again.
