January - What are you currently reading?
I can't wait to hear what you think about FaeFever. I love that series, but it's so hard to wait for the next book especially with her cliff hanger endings.I'm currently reading Heart of Stone by C.E.Murphy for another groups book-of-the-month discussion. Lawyer in NYC meets Gargoyle. I'm only about 100 pages in, but it's decent so far. I'm waiting for the lead character to figure out this guy is the stone figure she's seen on the building!
Jodz: I give you kudos for getting that far thru that series. I thought the first book was OK but I am not interested in pursuing it further at this time.I KMM's Highlander series. I hear she's good.
I am reading Nauti Dreams and not quite enjoying it as much as the first 2 books in the series. But I like to try and finish when I am reading series books.
I am also reading Knowing Caleb by Cameron Dane. Very good =)
I love this group already=)
Jodz,I love the Paladins series. I think my favorites are Devlin and Barak.
Lori,
How is the Meredith Gentry series? I read all of the Anita Blake books, but so far I can't seem to find the energy to start the MG series.
Currrently, nothing.. Gasp!!I am waiting on some books to arrive /stamps foot with impatience.
I started Witchling but I put that down since it looks like one of our groups will be reading that for Feb and I want to participate! :)
So now I need to find books to fit the Jan challenge!
Yz, I'm really enjoying them. Anita is still my girl but the Merry books are very good and it's a really interesting world Laurell has created. Merry is a lot like Anita...she has a ton of lovers. If you like the Anita series, I think you'd really like these too.
Oh and Yz the Gentry series is really good.I did the same thing as you when I finished the Anita Blake books.. I didnt think anything could be as good and I sorta delayed in picking up anything.
When I did start the Gentry series I was so glad.. It is really just as good (some would argue better) then the Anita series.
Bad..Tricia...you cannot have not a book to read...Didn't we give you enough reasons to pick a book?..LOL...Okay...I'll see when I can get hold of the first book in the Meredith Gentry series...and add the titles in my TBR shelf.
I have to go buy more! :PI am going to the book store today to pick up Full Moon Rising so I am going to be looking for a few more to tide me over lol :)
I need to find a library sale! lol
I'm currently reading Pagan Stone for the January challenge and listening to From Dead to Worse on audio.
Just started it when I got home.. so like I am on page 3.. literally hahaSo I cant say one way or the other, I have heard good things of this author so I decided to give this book a try.. the synopsis sounded really good though.
Sarah,I'm waiting to get my hands on Pagan Stone. I think Gage's story would be the most interesting. Let me know how it turns out.
I just finished "Shades of Twilight", and am currently reading "Sons of the Morning" both by Linda Howard.Sons of the Morning starts off in 1307 with Niall of Scotland who is the Guardian..it jumps to 1996 with Grace St. John who works for an archaeological foundation.
So far so good.
YZ & Kenjii,I love the series. I'm a dedicated PNR reader these days and while nothing beats steamy vamps IMO, Its a nice fresh change/mix!
I finished Pagan Stone. I put a review of it in the book review thread. I'd give it three stars.I also love the Paladins series. I can't wait for the next one coming soon!
Tricia - I just read Destiny Kills and I didn't enjoy it as much as Arthur's Riley Jensen books but it wasn't terrible.I am starting either Summer Knight by Jim Butcher or Visions in Death by J.D. Robb.. I can't decide between them.
Since I finished The Pagan Stone, I picked up Heart of the Dragon by Gena Showalter. It seems to be a re-release of one of her earlier books.
oooo i wanted to read that how do u like it Jodz?
Ok so an update on Destiny Kills.I do like it, its very interesting. There are parts of if that I roll my eyeballs about, and alot of authors seem to write this type of stuff in their books and it drives me nuts...
But what I dont like is when they write how women just take one look at a guy and just want to jump his bones and it takes ALL of their willpower not to.
So yes I find alot of men attractive but it doesnt take every ounce of willpower in my body to not do him lol.
I dunno, it bothers me and then it doesnt.. I guess it depends on the rest of the book and the story with it.
This one is very interesting as far as the story goes and it keeps me wondering whats going to happen next.. so thats good!
So I'm reading another installment in L.J. Smith's Night World series (young adult paranormals) and I'm wondering why I am bothering. I thought I liked the other books. Each book has different characters, but they are all linked by the common world and there is usually at least one crossover character. I'm just really stuggling to read this one for some reason. I've got the next few in the series sitting here, too, and I'm thinking, maybe I shouldn't bother. Then I'm going to get crackin' on my 5 for January!
Maybe you just need a break from the series, Melissa. Sometimes that happen. What I would usually do is read something else, then maybe come back to it later. Just a thought. Unless you really thinks its horrible. Sorry, I'm not familiar with the series.
So Ok just finished the first in Anya Basts' Elemental Witch series and how pleasurely;) surprised i was that this book was PNR. I really thought it was going to UF boy was I wrong. This book was fun and steamy. I'll diffinitely be posting a review for this one tomorrow. I have a new author to move to my mustread/ buy list
I just finished the first book in Moning's series, DarkFever - I thought it was awesome. I put a hold on the other two and hope they get to me soon!I should be reading the next book in the Dresden series.. but I'm not in the mood. I think I'm going to go with the second book in Kresley Cole's Mccarick brothers, If You Desire.
YZ- those scenes were steamy. So steamy infact my fiancee bought home the sequel today LOL. I've had her pleasures series in my pile of books now I think I need to dust them off.
Anya Bast is definitely going into my list...LOL..I'm still listening to Fae Fever and the plot thickens..LOL..I'm reading Caressed by Ice right now, but since we are talking about "steamy" I might start Wicked Ties by Shayla Black tonight for my January Challenge.
Jess,
Can you check if the other branches has it? I usually order my books from the library through their online program and simply have them deliver to me at home.
Oh my goodness I forgot about the Fever series by KMM I hope Faefever doesn't leave you hanging as much as the other did. That Barrons is a sexy mystery. I'm currently readxing Delilah Street book one by Carole Douglass and My Immortal by ErinMcCarthy
YZ - I have an online library system, and it coordinates with all the libraries in the county (maybe 25 of them) and none of them have the first book, I think one had the second one. But I hate starting a series from the 2nd book lol. The libraries also don't have Succubus Blues.. and I don't want to buy it. oo the drama of books lol.
Jael - Granted I only read the first book of the fever series but I feel like Barrons is a vamp... don't tell me if i'm right or wrong though lol. I want the next book dammit!
I've only read book 2 and they still haven't told us what he is. I was thinking Fae or Werewolf but I'm leaning more to a Fae outcast.
eww you don't find out... that might annoy me. See I thought he was a vamp because Mac pointed out that she noticed something when he faced off against a vamp in the first book.. and he didn't eat food either. I was also thinking he might be on of the royal seelie... but I don't know
Yeah I remeber, but there were two things said in the second book that made me think Fae/Werewolf. That's my only complaint about the series is that nothing is revealed and everything is just a cliffhanger to the next book. I'm mean give us a bone KMM. I've read one of her Highander books and they were a little bit better. I hoping FaeFever reveals something .
I'm listening to FaeFever, and I've heard in other forums that this books ends in another cliffhanger. So, I don't know how I will handle that..LOL..KMM's Highlander series are pure romance..you'll get your HEA at the end. I love that series.
See that's is what's going to make me put the series down. Leaving each book with no ending is just wrong. It's like the story is progressing because nothing is being uncovered. It's just one long story dragged out in several books. How many do KMM plan to write in this series?
u girls has read a lot of series. i am still new i guess... i will need to catch up hehe.. i will get there.....
If I remember correctly there will be 5, maybe 6. FaeFever ends with a total cliffhanger. I remember thoughts of that book swirling in my head for days and whenever that series is brought up I think back on that book. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book (late summer maybe?). I pretty much read the first three in a row, so until now it didn't bug me how the story hasn't "ended" yet.
I still love the Fever books, even though they all end in total cliffhangers. Faefever had me reeling though, so you ladies reading it now will have to let us know how it made you feel. I think the next arc will be Mac "growing up", so to speak. You'll see what I mean when you get there. As for Barrons, he's still my fave over V'lane. For you ladies who read the Immortal Highlander series, and I can't remember which book, but wasn't there a guy who was cursed into a mirror? He had lots of tattoos that protected him from the dark magicks he had to do. I'm thinking maybe Barrons is a sorcerer like him.
That will be Cian. I was thinking that Barrons is a dark Druid. Didn't Aviel (sp?) mentioned that she is putting together her 5 Druids as her defenders which I think includes the Keltar twins, Cian, Christopher...would Barrons be the 5th? or am I reaching here?...
Stephenie,It was okay. I enjoyed it but not enough to ever read it again it's one of those once only reads.
It was a quick but STEAMY read lol.
I liked it enough to want to read the next one =)

Right now, I'm reading Dragonsong by Anne McCaffrey. Not my usual fare, but I originally picked it up for another challenge I was doing that requires a "music" tag. So far, it's okay, but I'm struggling to finish it.
Also, will be starting on audiobook format FaeFever by Karen Marie Moning during my morning drive to work. Picked it up from the library last night.
