None of us had any experience with literary societies, so we made our own rules: we took turns speaking about the books we'd read. At the start, we tried to be calm and objective, but that soon fell away, and the purpose of the speakers was to goad the listeners into wanting to read the book themselves. Once two members had read the same book, they could argue, which was our great delight. We read books, talked books, argued over books, and became dearer and dearer to one another...our evenings together became bright, lively times - we could almost forget, now and then, the darkness outside. You guys. It was an awesome night, as usual. :) Lagi naman eh, but we all must say it. Thanks to everyone to made it possible.

Also, Alona and I were talking that we should all dress up like this at least once a year. Wala lang, ang saya eh. :)

Anyways, nice to meet you, K.D., Angus, Jzhun, Bennard, Veronica, Po, and the guy who reads The Walking Dead graphic novels, and the guy sitting next to him at my side of the table, and everyone else at the event last Saturday.

Very happy to see book lovers gather in one place. It's empowering to know that stories connect us in this fun and intellectual way (the commitment to the Q&A deserves praise).
