I only needed to look at the first page to find a book that's on my TBR, too!

message 613: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32726 comments Same here, Deborah. The first couple of pages are full of either my ratings or books I don't want to read (yet or ever). So, I'm still deciding.

Hope everyone finds a great UF to read. Are you guys choosing to start a new series or catch-up on one you're already reading? If I could decide which I'd rather do, I think my choice would be a lot easier. :)

message 614: by Leah (new)

Leah | 880 comments I'm catching up! Summoning the Night (Arcadia Bell, #2) by Jenn Bennett for me :-)

message 615: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32726 comments I've got several catch-ups TBR:
13 (Women of the Otherworld, #13) by Kelley Armstrong Seeker of Shadows (Moonlight, #6) by Nancy Gideon Darkness Rising (Dark Angels, #2) by Keri Arthur Death's Sweet Embrace (Dark Brethren #2) by Tracey O'Hara Shadow Heir (Dark Swan, #4) by Richelle Mead among many, (too) many others

But, some cool-sounding newbies TBR also:
Kindling the Moon (Arcadia Bell, #1) by Jenn Bennett Dead on the Delta (Annabelle Lee, #1) by Stacey Jay Geekomancy by Michael R. Underwood Dying Bites (The Bloodhound Files, #1) by D.D. Barant Viper Moon (Earth Witches, #1) by Lee Roland Nightshifted (Edie Spence, #1) by Cassie Alexander among many, (too) many others

I'm leaning towards Kindling the Moon, which I see is your choice also (well, same series). It's one that others have raved about and I've continued to bump up on my TBR list. So many books ...... *sigh* <--- good (love books) and bad (never enough time) sigh ;)

message 616: by Susan (susayq ~) (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 247 comments I'm reading At Grave's End (Night Huntress, #3) by Jeaniene Frost for this shelf. I started this series 2 shelves ago and am loving it!

message 617: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32726 comments Yay! Enjoy, Susan. That's such a fun series, especially in the beginning.

message 618: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments That is quite a selectin there Steph!!

I chose The Renfield Syndrome (Rhiannon's Law, #2) by J.A. Saare

message 619: by D.G. (last edited Jul 30, 2012 01:15PM) (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments My pick wasn't very good: Bonded by Blood (Sweetblood, #1) by Laurie London But to be fair, it was probably more PNR than UF but still some people had it as UF.

message 620: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments I loved that one Regina! The next one, I think, is out tomorrow but no sign of it on Amazon yet :'(

It says on her blog, you can get it at All Romance Ebooks and Mundania Press but it looks like it's just for the US :'(
Hopefully Amazon won't be "pending" for long.

Lol, for all of us on team 16. We are also pulling for it not to be kickass heroine or dragons. (if male lead in a dead heat with team 17—I stocked up on caffeine and chocolate and will be looking at page numbers when picking!).

MALE LEAD SHELF! MALE LEAD SHELF! MALE LEAD SHELF!

message 637: by Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) (last edited Aug 04, 2012 01:45PM) (new)

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments If I remember correctly we had the worst card for getting stamps to line up until last couple shelves called(team 11 nearly as bad and team 17 almost immediately had two 3-in-a-rows with every call there for a while giving most teams three in a row while we still had yet to get two bloody stamps lining up in any direction. Whine, whine, moan, whine…if it were not for discovering some really good reads I would have stressed myself "halfway to the grave")

I had a small panic attack I pulled down the book I planned to read if it is male lead, it was 700 pages! Had to find a back up quick.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments Yeah, do not want anything also on any shelf with a name starting with "epic"—once upon a time books over 600 pages were published in smaller installments but lately have gotten some 1,000 page monstrosities.

message 640: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I've read too many of the books in the male lead shelf...and some of the ones I haven't read from my TBR are really long!

Anyways, I don't know why I get the impression we won't get the winning shelf this week. I'm thinking that next week will be the one, when I'm on vacation and don't know how I'll get to read the book (going to Portugal and then Ireland.)

I'm pretty sure if you download books to ereader you can read even in non-compatible countries (just may hit trouble with wifi or wireless services for new books). I get a lot of reading done in airport security lines, gates and on plane. And my lovely kindle has done well North America and most European cities (have not been everywhere but there's a coverage map at amazon site).

Lis | 4037 comments I vote for "paranormal romance" shelf... No one bingos and my team can get our first 4 in a row.

Shelf! Shelf! Paranormal romance shelf!!

message 644: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments I'm crossing my fingers for Vampires. That shelf would be a good one for team 2. But as long as it's none of the shelf that were listed earlier, then I'm good with that. lol

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments Ack! I'm going to stop checking for 15 minutes and visIt some of those sites showing the funky text messages autocorrects do, cracked or play with pinterest craft pins—those suck up time.

D.G. | 2752 comments I'm taking my Kindle, my iPad AND my iPod. But vacations with my husband tend to be pretty intense - walking everywhere during the day and then going out at night. I highly doubt I'll have time to read. But I'll try!

Then I hope you do not find time to read! (I once spent 48 hours trapped in an airport and was so glad, pre-ereader days and pre- airport-newsstands-all over-with-good-hours, I did decide to weigh down the carryons with library binding books and smaller harlequins)

Nowadays it takes longer to charge all devices and make sure relevant cords and adaptors get packed than any other packing tasks....I make sure to line checked luggage with bubble wrap and add scissors (for price tags and blister packs of what I buy on vacation), packing tape, extra gallon sized baggies, twist ties, rubber bands,...in case I want to ship stuff back. Now it is best with tsa to Baggie individually any cords, belts, headbands or anything that could make a snarled mess on their scanners (rubber banded or twist tied for good measure). And beware of bath salts or salt products even in checked bags. Trips some stuff n some countriies' checkpoints. photo luggage tags even if you just laminate a homemade one or plink on some photo stickers help with luggage. And good, electronic microfiber cloths for cleaning device screen and every imaginable non-Epsom salt firstaid for feet products.

Steph (angel4492) | 32726 comments :( DG & AH are going on holiday and didn't invite me. Where are you off to, AH? I'd love to go to Ireland, DG. That's one country where I'd blend right in, for once, instead of sticking out like a sore (redhead) thumb. And the accents ... swoon.

For those of you who predicted NO WINNER this week, you were correct. But, no one guessed the shelf ...

Our next shelf announcement is up ~ 'Series Catch-up' (personal shelf)

NOTE:
❀ Members are allowed to choose a book from any series that they have already started - no genre restrictions
❀ Book must be 200+ pages, part of a series, but not the first in a series
❀ Re-reads are not allowed - must be a book in a series you need to catch-up

Happy Reading, Everyone! :)

Right?! My carry-on sometimes weighs more now with my iGadgets and all of their adapters than my bag'o DTB ever did. And, excuse me in advance if we happen to be on a plane when my device battery dies b/c I'll sit in the bathroom with it plugged into the shaver outlet waiting for a full charge while I continue to read. LMAO!! >:) That's what they get for not putting outlets at every seat v. only busy or 1st.
