What are You Reading?

Thank you, Susan. I am truly blessed to get to do what I do.

Now I remember why I never finished it when I picked it up in my youth. This time, I was determined. I did enjoy the writing, but I still didn't "get" Heathcliff, the brooding hero. He's a bit too mad for me . . .

I read Wuthering Heights in my 12th grade AP English class. I actually loved it. As opposed to Jane Eyre by one of the other Bronte sisters that I couldn't stand.

That's how my daughter felt, too! She's all grown up now but when she read it in High School or Jr. High, she loved it. She still loves it, because we're in the same book club and re-read it the same time I did. When I mentioned that while I loved the overpowering romance and romantic feel of the book, I had a hard time liking the characters or believing their love was any kind of healthy love. She just sighed and said I was just too old to appreciate it. She may have a point! I plan to blog about it over on Christians Read this Wednesday. :-)

I can't possibly take offense, when the same thing has happened to me so many times with books I've truly loved! Hope you enjoy it. :-)

Made for interesting discussion, however! We all agreed the writing was lovely and the characters - although unlikeable - were uniquely drawn and memorable.

I haven't decided on what book I want to read next...

I didn't like Before The Scarlet Dawn. I found it to be rather depressing and disappointing. :( Not a very good "first book by this author" book to read.
I'm hoping, though, that the next book in the series will be much better.

I enjoyed Breathe as well.

Hi Ruth!
I don't do a ton of recreational reading, but if you enjoy Alaska historicals, you might check out Bonnie Leon's Alaskan Skies trilogy. I read her first one and really liked it. Her third just released. Happy reading!

Melanie, I'm going to post an interview with Regina Scott on the regency blog http://christianregency.com/blog/ July 25. She's doing a book giveaway of The Rogue's Reform, if anyone's interested.

How are you liking it so far?
I finished The Rogue's Reform and am now reading The Secret Keeper by Sandra Byrd! I really enjoyed Sandra's other book (To Die For) and am hoping I like this one just as much (if not more!).

How are you liking it so far?"
I'm liking it! It's really good so far! :)

I would!

I am reading National Security as of right now. I really like the character development and Marc's attention to detail. I'm really enjoying it!
