Tiffany (Dawkins) Dawkins (tiffanydawkins) | 44 comments I don't think my daughter would be scared of anything, my fear is that she might ask me a question I am not ready to answer!

Lol, poor Tiffany. :P

message 253: by Katie (new)

Katie I'm ages 11-13, and I've started reading it.

I know! isn't it awesome?

message 257: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (writingrulz89) | 3 comments I don't know if I think a pre-teen should read this, but I guess it depends on the individual.

exactly. according to all my test scores, most of the books intended for my age are too easy, yet some people older than me cant read the whole series.

message 259: by Mila (new)

Mila I was only eleven when i read it last year.

message 260: by Celia (new)

Celia Guzi (celiahearts) a third grader read it in my mom's classroom. he thought it was like the cool thing to do. lol

message 261: by Emilia (new)

Emilia Haha~

If you know about the two things, you're good to go~
Honestly, at first, my sister was jealous that I would finish the series before her, so she made up lies about it that it was so explicit and stuff, so i just snuck around the books and then threw them on the bed with a note that said,
"Breaking Dawn was my favorite!"
Haha~~

Haha, you go girl!

message 263: by Erin (new)

Erin (erndurian) I think they should definatly cut that part out of the movie though. It would loose a lot of veiwers.

message 264: by [deleted user] (new)

What part?

message 265: by Celia (new)

Celia Guzi (celiahearts) maybe the sick birth part? the sex part? dunno

message 266: by [deleted user] (new)

You can't cut any of it out, though, it's too important to the plotline. They'll find a way to make it viewer-friendly, I'm sure of it.

message 267: by Erin (new)

Erin (erndurian) just the graphic parts. im mean they have to have some notice that that part happened. but just cut out the details.

Hunhun56 | 1 comments Hi!! Itz me. I am 13 years old and i am in8th grade. I will b in high school next year and i want to read the twilight saga SOOOOOO bad! The only prob is my mom wont let me read them! She thinks they all have sensual content and are horrible! every1 ( and i mean evry1) in my skool has read them! Wat should i do????

message 270: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, it depends on certain things I guess. You could read it now, and get caught, and probably get into trouble. Or you can wait a little longer, depending on your circumstances. I can't really tell you not to listen to your mom, that would be bad. It's up to you.

message 271: by [deleted user] (new)

I know 9 year olds that read the whole series

message 272: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, but those 9 year olds usually don't have their parents telling them not to.

message 273: by [deleted user] (new)

I know that's what makes me mad. They're parents don't stop them.

message 274: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, it's unfortunate. Some libraries do something similar. They actually keep some books in the back room, because they don't want students reading it.

message 275: by [deleted user] (new)

Ya my school does that because I had to read this teen pregger book for Health class and they had it pulled.
Which is weird because we're old enough.

message 276: by [deleted user] (new)

Some of them don't even do it for the students, they just don't want it in their library. It's called censorship, deliberatly hiding something from the public because of your own views, not the good of the whole. It's illegal.

message 277: by [deleted user] (new)

Aww snap.
The girl I know her parents bought her the books.

message 278: by Mellady77 (new)

Mellady77 Stibich | 1149 comments A century ago, a girl that is in her teens is old enough to marry and have kids, some of our most popular books of all time are young women. Times have changed but our bio-clocks haven't.

I'm not really arguing, responsibility for a woman of 13 a hundred years ago was to start looking for a husband. Today the responsibility for a girl of 13 today is to start thinking about her future and respecting herself as an individual. It's not a necessity anymore since life expectancy jumped from 30 to 80.

message 279: by [deleted user] (new)

So...? Are you arguing that people should be allowed to read older, younger, middle? What?

message 280: by Mellady77 (new)

Mellady77 Stibich | 1149 comments You're mature enough in my opinion, but my cousin who is the dame age is not. It's a maturity thing.

message 281: by [deleted user] (new)

Ya and an understanding thing too.

message 282: by M (new)

M (readergirl67) if people are able to read 600 page books and understand them, they shouldn't have problems with the events in BD.

message 283: by Fallen (new)

Fallen R. (gomovampire) | 28 comments any age that can read BIG books..lol add me

message 284: by Lydia (new)

Lydia Well, I'm under 14 and I read Breaking Dawn. I'll admit, it was a little much at the beginning. I would say as long as your mature and are able to handle stuff like that, it would be okay to read it. That's my opinion.

message 285: by Fallen (new)

Fallen R. (gomovampire) | 28 comments LoL uhmm.....well...im reading breaking dawn rite now im on like ch.5 or 6.
yea..just wait till the movie comes out.....
LOL :p

message 286: by Farah (new)

Farah Ali (vampire_lover55) | 41 comments i dont think its that bad...its not like if it gives details

message 287: by Fallen (new)

Fallen R. (gomovampire) | 28 comments it kinda does.......tho add me ppl :l

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 28 comments I may be kind of strict but I think most kids under 14 shouldn't be reading Breaking Dawn since it is too mature. I do think we should encourage children to read but it is too much for many kids younger than that to handle. I think 11 or younger is DEFINITELY too young. They shouldn't even know what any of it means at that age. They should be being kids! :)

Sad to say, but I agree.

message 290: by [deleted user] (new)

I hate to use the Adam Lambert defense, but: If they're that young they're not even going to fully understand what all the details mean together anyway.

message 291: by [deleted user] (new)

wow thanks alot so now i dont understand it?

message 292: by [deleted user] (new)

alice wrote: "wow thanks alot so now i dont understand it?"

Huh? All I'm saying is that the younger readers who don't already know what the sex means won't suddenly learn about it by reading Breaking Dawn.

I'm not saying you, personally, don't understand what it is, Alice.

message 293: by Miss Amelia (last edited Jan 07, 2010 07:07PM) (new)

Miss Amelia (missameliatxva) i'd say maybe 8th grade (13/14)?
i personally wouldnt be against my kids reading it (yeah you know, my imaginary kids) because the mature content is very vague...techincally she doesnt write a "sex scene" per see, it's more of a lead in-lead out...but i dont care because they got married FIRST. lol, how often does *that* happen in YA books nowadays? kudos, stephenie :D
so that's why i'd let my imaginary kids read it.

message 294: by [deleted user] (new)

I think older then ten . . . Amelia made a good point. They dont do anything that she discribes specifically. But you have to be mature to read it kinda. Im 11 and I read it so I say just it depends on how mature you are.

message 295: by Vivi (new)

Vivi | 2543 comments It doesn't describe it, there's no details. So in my opinion it's okay for youngsters to read it.

message 296: by Miss Amelia (new)

Miss Amelia (missameliatxva) i guess instead of "inappropriate" it may just be "awkward" for under-8th grade level. because you know, marriage and things-that-married-people-do is in itself pretty mature. so in my opinion, maybe parents could read it with their kids or just kind of discuss what's going on, but Breaking Dawn certainly doesnt need to be on any parental Hit Lists or anything, at least not in my opinion

message 297: by [deleted user] (new)

i'm 10 and read it when i was 9

message 298: by Vivi (new)

Vivi | 2543 comments im __ and read it when i was a year younger than that :D
