Mmm pumpernickel rocks!

Heidi | 2372 comments Yes it does David. Yes it does. I just had a fake patty melt ( I am a veggie so it was a veggie burger) on regular Jewish Rye a few minutes ago but I prefer the dark rye (aka pumpernickel) to the regular rye! How boring does my life sound now??

Food is NOT boring :P

Sophia (Bookwyrming Thoughts) (hannahsophialin) Well, no one wants rotten eggs for dinner... unless it's the trash bin. :p

Adele's a veggie too. Well, and a fishy lol. Technically she's called pescetarian :)

DeAnna (dee84812) | 671 comments Okay, this convo is getting weird. I refer to vegetable as veggies, so now, rather than picturing you guys as vegetarians, I'm picturing you as giant asparagus. lol

Well I don't anything with eyes (potatoes excluded) but fish are slimy and stinky so I am fine with your wife eating them. hahahaha

message 418: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 97 comments Well, I just sold my road bike (can't ride it anymore) so I can buy a Vitamix. I'm really wanting to get into the green smoothie craze! At some point, perhaps I'll go ALL raw?

message 419: by David, Mr. Blue Eyes; He's the Best--Ain't no lie!! ;) (new)

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 10717 comments Mod
Lol!! Heidi the Eternal Optimist is now Kale :P

message 420: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 2372 comments Nicole I make a smoothie about every day. I used spinach for several years since it is tasteless and good for you but lately I have been throwing some kale in there because it is even better than spinach. I do notice the kale somewhat but with vanilla protein powder and fruits I barely taste it. I have also trying to be "kind of raw" at lunch and normally just eat mixed deluxe nuts, cheese, and cut up veggies. It is nice not to have to heat anything up when I am in a rush at work.

Heidi | 2372 comments David wrote: "Lol!! Heidi the Eternal Optimist is now Kale :P"

Well it is a power food at least! :)

message 422: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 97 comments Heidi, That is so great! My mother in law has been doing stuff like this for a while, and several of my friends have been doing the all raw thing. In SLC there are several excellent all raw restaurants. Some of the best cuisine I've ever had. :) My mother in law buys huge bags of greens at Costco and freezes them to use in smoothies. I'm pretty excited to do it! Great recipes, thanks! Do you ever use chard? And do you use a Vitamix or Blendtec?

message 423: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 2372 comments I have not used chard. I was using spinach for so long because Sam's Club sells a huge container for $3.00 but Kale is dirt cheap too. Are you talking blenders?? What is a vitamix or blendtec (I am guessing blender by the name)?? I don't think cheese is "raw" since it is processed but I love it and it is filling -- that and Sam's club has great snack sized cheese for cheap (love me some Sam's!)

Yes, blenders. What do you use to make your smoothies?

Erica | 90 comments Interesting.... Anyone else craving Chinese food?

message 431: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 2372 comments Nicole I can not abide by cheap blenders. I have had too many blow up or not chop ice that I bought a professional grade one 2-3 years ago and LOVE IT! It is the Waring MX1000 http://www.webstaurantstore.com/warin...

I have had so many times where I bit my tongue when people argued that they could buy 3 or 4 cheap blenders for the price of a good one instead-- but WHY??? Why not get a good one that will actually chop anything and last for years and years instead of getting a new one every year??

Heidi | 2372 comments Princess Erica wrote: "Interesting.... Anyone else craving Chinese food?"

I can not eat Chinese food (if you are referring to the "Americanized version" of Chinese). It makes my stomach hurt almost immediately. Same with Pizza Hut pizza. I avoid both like the plague. The joys of getting older! Ugh!

That looks like a good blender! I had no idea there was anything else out there that competed with Vitamix or Blendtec. I've been wanting to get something like this for years now. I'll probably get the Blendtec because it can stay on the counter underneath my cabinets. I hear you on getting a good machine. I want to be able to make gazpacho. Is that too much to ask? ;)

What do you mean it can go under the cabinets? Is it smaller or something. We (me and the hubby) researched blenders out the wazzo when we bought ours and the one we got was $100-$200 cheaper with the same motor as the more expensive ones. Anywho it has been going strong 5-7 days per week for over two years. I love that I can stuff that puppy to the top and it chops it all down in seconds. I do NOT miss the days where I had to add a few ingredients at a time and blend - repeat - because the blender was not strong enough. Report back when you buy yours and give an update! Good luck :) p.s. you may want to check the store where we bought ours because it was even cheaper than Amazon, which is rare. Not sure if they have your blender or if it is cheaper there but it is worth a look :) The store is on my earlier link btw.

message 436: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 2372 comments Sophia I love pizza but am only into thin crust these days. I am also a big believer in "less is more" with pizza -- I want to taste the sauce and cheese not cover it up! And I can not abide cheap pizza anymore (i.e. Pizza Hut!)
