In Post 358 you claimed 20 styles points for Daytripper, a graphic novel. In Post 439 we let you know that graphic novels are not eligible for style points.

In post 439, Elizabeth explained that the 20 style points claimed did not apply (and crossed them out), but did not amend the quoted Grand Total to the correct Grand Total of 180 points.
ETA: As usual Elizabeth is quicker than I! ;)

Yes, indeed. Should I generally post that language edition that I read, if it's available? I figured since page count is determined by the English edition, I'd just go for that.

Review: Borges is wicked smart and, as near as I can tell, has read all the books. At first, reading the stories was a struggle; they were fiction, but read like non-fiction and they didn't "click". Eventually I fell in love with the metaphysical devices and the explorations of time. Two recommendations: read some background information on Borges & his fiction (the wiki article will probably do) and make sure to read the Andrew Hurley translation not the Anthony Kerrigan translation.

We need you to tell us when you read in other than English (and which language) so that we can make a correct entry.

Review: Travel writer Mark Jenkins arranged a trip down the River Niger with his best friend and two other buddies. This book has a map, photos from the trip, a description of the group’s time on the river, and occasional historical paragraphs about 19th century adventurers and their time on the Niger River. His writing style is off-putting (here’s an example):
p. 120 “This is what they came for. A big broad river lolling in syrupy loops across the African savanna. Endless flatwater. They lean back and paddle peacefully and enjoy the hell out of it.”
Overall, a good waiting-room book.
