Jim | 21813 comments What's so good about multi-tasking? Even 'Windows' claims to be able to multi-task.
Just do one job at a time and do it properly :-)

message 1653: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments And your pilot for today is multi-tasking George. As well as flying the plane single handed he will perform open heart surgery on one passenger in cattle class, attempt to seduce three flight attendants, make a model of Windsor castle out of matchsticks and drink a bottle of milk stout whilst singing 'All the nice girls like a sailor' :-)

Jim | 21813 comments No, I've not fled
First I was away in London for a couple of days with meetings, got back and we lost broadband. It's back but perhaps only briefly so just thought I'd wave and say hi.

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Hi :~)

Where did your broadband get to?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Hi Jim.

Maybe you should wear safety glasses while in London. You don't want your eyes damaged after the operations.

message 1657: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I'm tempted to wear goggles! Our broadband goes and comes back every twelve hours, for ten minutes before going again :-(

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Thats not an ideal situation. On the other hand, it does mean you can't waste hours faffing about on the internet!

message 1659: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Well I've got 11,000 words written since Friday for the next book, but I've got a blog tour to organise (try doing that by post :-( ) and a back log of paying writing that needs doing :-(

message 1660: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Hidden blessing then? Don't you just hate those?!

message 1661: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I'm just envious of Jim's 11K....

That would be my silver lining.

Got any snow, Jim?

message 1662: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Hi Kath, very well hidden :-(

BT spent about seven hours here today and I've got broadband, but at about 0.7meg, he's coming back tomorrow and this time he's bringing a mate because he's going to start banging metaphorical heads together :-)

Jim | 21813 comments Will wrote: "I'm just envious of Jim's 11K....

No snow, just endless persisting rain :-(
Got a little more written but spent most of my time assisting BT engineer rewire us internally, so all new telephone wires in house, several faults found externally and hopefully more to come tomorrow.

Yes 11k words is nice but it's frustrating as I've also got other stuff to do, going on the web and grabbing scientific papers in a manner that looked like one of those supermarket dashes, frantically filling my boots before the broadband died again

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I spent all day making book marks for the get together. It didn't go very well.

message 1665: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Oh sorry Jim. I meant to put that on the morning thread. Good going on the 11k and sorry the Broadband is throwing a loop.

cheers

MTM

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Try getting mcmini to help with the bookmarks and call them special one-offs which will be priceless when you are famous!

David Manuel | 1112 comments Hey, that's a new photo, you handsome devil, you!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments David wrote: "Hey, that's a new photo, you handsome devil, you!"

I noticed the new photo on facebook. Very nice.

message 1669: by David (new)

David Manuel | 1112 comments Cleans up nice and he writes, too!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments What more could you ask for?

message 1671: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Actually, Jim looks worryingly normal in that pic, don't you think?

message 1672: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Normal? Now I'll have to go and look.

message 1673: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Well for a start he's not carrying a giant marrow......
:p

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments JIm! You're back!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments My theory is that he looked in the mirror after his eye ops and decided something had to be done...

message 1676: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments The previous photos were of my stunt double, splendid chap obviously but lacking in some of the more esoteric social graces

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments More like stunned double.

message 1678: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I liked the last photo because you looked like the farmer off Sean the Sheep.

message 1679: by David (last edited Jan 29, 2014 01:18PM) (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Will the real Jim please step forward.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Hang on, both of them did!

message 1681: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Spooky. Perhaps they're alter egos!

message 1682: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Nah. One's an android. Jim the Auton... Has a ring to it. :-)

message 1683: by David (new)

David Manuel | 1112 comments Or maybe Jim cloned himself. That way there's a Jim to tend to the sheep while the other one writes.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments So this is the JimJim thread

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments David wrote: "Or maybe Jim cloned himself. That way there's a Jim to tend to the sheep while the other one writes."

So THAT'S how he does it.

message 1686: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments I believe there are three Jims. We haven't seen the writing one. The prior one was the one that saw to the sheep. This new appearance is the one that tends to the needs of ladies, and gives the writer Jim all the info for writing Benor.

message 1687: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Now my lady wife will be getting nervous!

message 1688: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Watch it folks, we don't want to earn him a biff up the hooter.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Oh, now its the JimJimJim thread!

message 1690: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments So long as it's not the spam spam spam thread we're fine. I cannot sing and I don't have the right sort of winged helmet or fur cloak

message 1691: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I'll bet you have the lumberjack shirt though, right?

message 1692: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments He's ok! ;)

message 1693: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Strangely enough I do have an appropriate patterned shirt, but at the moment I'm doing my lumberjacking wearing wellingtons (because I'm working in standing water,) somewhat grubby trousers, two old sweatshirts, topped with a battered pullover, topped with a truly knackered fleece :-)

message 1694: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Cor, you Jim. You dunnarf know how to turn a girl on. (Or did I mean off?) :)

Years of constant practice! Only a true dedication to my art has given me the perseverance necessary
