Keep my fingers crossed that this time it does!"

Well so far it has, it's sold better than any book so far (going purely on Amazon sales rank)

Did you drop it in the slurry pit again?

message 1403: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Actually, to create the correct ambiance I leave it wrapped in an old bar towel for a while.

message 1404: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Could I please have mine mature in a vat of Brandy?

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments That isn't road rage is it?

Jim | 21813 comments Will wrote: "That isn't road rage is it?"

Fuelled on rind-washed kindles and stale bar towels? Probably not.

David, not wishing to gloat but my October was bumper. I sold as many books then as I had in the previous three.... Which was still only 3 books. All stateside. None in the UK. Mwahahahahaahrgh.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Good result, MTM!

She's used to sticky, having a small boy.

Jim | 21813 comments Well I suppose the curtains aren't burning.
Glad your sales have started up again, I always feel that whilst they're selling there is still the chance of optimism :-)

message 1416: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments You are optimistic about becoming optimistic?

Right...

message 1417: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments I've only had one month with no sales at all (I think), so I remain optimistic, slightly, somewhat, sometimes.

message 1418: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I hope you didn't just jinx yourself.

message 1419: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments More bad months will serve to make the slightly better ones look better still :~)

message 1420: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments That's my glass half full outlook for the day.

message 1421: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Will wrote: "You are optimistic about becoming optimistic?

Right..."

Yep, I'm positive that things have been worse so improvement is still possible :-)

message 1422: by M.T. (last edited Nov 02, 2013 01:48PM) (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments The only way is definitely up from where I'm standing. I haven't checked my sales figures yet. That said I am concentrating on finishing the w.i.p. I've three quarters of it done and doing the read through of what I've done over half term I find a lot of it has reached the stage when it feels like reading a really quite decent book that someone else wrote. So that's a good sign.

message 1423: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Thumbs up for a finish before Christmas, is it?

message 1424: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I'm hoping so as well :-)

message 1425: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments What else would we want to read over the holiday, Jim?

message 1426: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Exactly. Mind you, at the moment Gingerlily is illustrating Justice 4.1 (Tsarina Sector, #1) by Jim Webster for me over on my Facebook wall, so might be worth nipping across and having a look :-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I've put it on my 'Not released yet' wishlist Jim.

message 1428: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Oh you say the nicest of things :-)

message 1429: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I can't get facebook at the moment. It's all alright until I try to access my Hamgee University Press page. Then it goes tits up and I never see it again. I shall have to try and find out if it thinks I've been naughty. Not sure where to start.

Cheers

MTM

message 1430: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments You mean you've been naughty in so many different ways you're not sure which one it's spotted?

message 1431: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I've posted on your page and I can access the Hamgee page

message 1432: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I can see them all.

A mate was having trouble with her blog and it turned out to be her browser, if that helps

message 1433: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I can't get it to work on the iPad or the laptop. 4 different browsers. Ho hum.

message 1434: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Just to say the https://www.facebook.com/TsarinaSecto... has been updated again. More holiday locations for you.

message 1435: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Tentatively clicking on the link....

message 1436: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments The latest links are mollusc free

message 1437: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Where's the fun in that?

message 1438: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments It is not my place to tell discerning adults what they can and cannot do in the privacy of their own homes, and apparently some do like things to be mollusc free. I know, different strokes for different folks......

message 1439: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Just thought I'd mention that we have fine dining in the Border Kingdoms.

message 1440: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Just to say that I've finally thought my way through a problem. The hero has to get from A to B. He needs a lift. Problem is he has to get from the outside of a space station to a planet in a different system. I knew who HAD to give him a lift but I couldn't work out why they would.
Anyway after three or four weeks ostentatiously ignoring that particular book, I've finally got the answer and can now storm on :-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Yay Jim!

message 1442: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments I had a similar problem. Someone who had to not do something, but I couldn't think of a reason why they wouldn't. Like you, I had to just forget about it for a few weeks; magically, it sorted itself.

message 1443: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Thanks for that GL. Yes it's one of those things, like David said where 'because that's what the plot needs' is just not good enough. I couldn't just gloss it over and have it happen.
Walking away and doing something else can work wonders :-)

message 1444: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments And now a review for The Cartographer's Apprentice: Leave Them Wanting More

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Charles Dickens and Katherine Mansfield no less!

message 1445: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Isn't Katherine Mansfield that chick from the 50s with really big hooters?

message 1446: by David (new)

David Hadley Patti (baconater) wrote: "Isn't Katherine Mansfield that chick from the 50s with really big hooters?"

Nah, you're thinking of Mansfield Park - Once home to England's largest flock of whooper swans - hence your confusion.

message 1447: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Ah.

Okay then.

message 1448: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I think I know who Patti was thinking about.

Jane Mansfield.
