Welcome, Mike. Glad you could join us.Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you are ready to cite a book. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.
This is how a book should look:

Hi Bob:I moved your great question to the thread below, since this is just a introduction thread.
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
Bob, I am moving your post to the 'I'm looking for a book on . . . ' thread which is the best place for folks to respond to this type of request. Here is the link:http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
Also, don't forget to add the book cover, author photo (when available) and author links when citing a book and/or author.
Thanks.

Hi there. I enjoy history broadly and am most interested in the history and literature of the African diaspora. I have joined the Africa group here with that in mind. Look forward to joining your various discussions and becoming familiar with the folks here.

Hi - I'm Michelle, and I'm new to this group. I have to admit I'm a little overwhelmed by all the notices I'm getting already - it's tough for me to follow all the posts and messages....I'm kind of technologically-challenged....LOL But I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else is reading and seeing your recommendations for good books to read. I LOVE U.S. History - I enjoy reading about the Civil War, WWII, American Presidents, the U.S. West, and Native Americans mostly, but I will read almost ANYTHING.....I've read some Russian history and ancient Roman history too and really enjoyed that, so I'm open to finding new areas of history to explore!
Welcome Michelle, we are glad to have you as a member. There is a lot to explore here so you should find plenty to appeal to your interests and perhaps stimulate some new ones.As you get started please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. Bob, your introduction was fine. It was the post specifically looking for a book that I was referencing (I think Bryan actualy moved it.) Because there is a thread specifically for that where people can go for those types of questions we moved it there. This thread is just for introductions and welcomes. If you have any questions at any time please feel free to ask any of the moderators, or consult the mechanics of the board thread where we address some of the how-to and guidelines. Glad you are jumping in and participating right away!
Welcome Malik and Michelle.........I hope you will find much here to pique your interest in history. The moderators are here to help you if you have questions. Most of all.......enjoy!!
Welcome Michelle to the History Club. Don't worry about all the notices. Just relax and have fun reading.
