Somethingblue | 33 comments Hi! I'm Shelley aka Somethingblue (after my favorite Buffy episode). I am a life long reader, but only dipped in to romance after reading Twilight on a whim in 2007 because I thought the cover was interesting. I started an online bookclub after that and we all actually met up in Forks in 2008. Good times. We are all still friends, but as I run another small business, my bookclub has not been tended to. I hope to join fun discussions here and be inspired to read again. My favorite paranormal romance series is JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood.

message 602: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (strumpfe) Hi folks. I'm Rachel, and I'm all about escapist fiction - scifi, fantasy, horror, thrillers, you name it. If it's entertaining and nothing like my everyday life, I'm up for it. Not to knock my everyday life, because it's nifty, too. But it's not something I'm dying to read about while I'm sitting in the airport, if ya get me. I suppose that's why I also love video games (mostly RPGs - currently the Landmark beta, EQ2, and XBox), movies, and TV. Once we get choose-your-own-adventure social virtual reality movies, I may never bother to do anything else!

It's really hard to pick a favorite author, because I probably have about 50 of them, depending on genre and what kind of mood I'm in. I'm very big on urban fantasy and paranormal romances right now, but I'm also waiting on Mira Grant's second Parasitology book (Symbiont), the next entry in the J.A. Huss Social Media serial (Status), and the third book in Marcus Sakey's Brilliance Saga. I like a lot of the other authors I've seen folks mention in this thread, too.

I only have a few RL friends who are big readers, and only one of those reads similar stuff. Unfortunately, she has no interest in talking about it. So I'm hoping I'll get the chance to chat with folks here about what we're reading.

H.A. Kotys | 21 comments Hi Rachel, welcome...lots of chat around here about books - you've come to the right place. :)

message 604: by Katie (new)

Katie (theonceandfuturekiki) | 29 comments I'm Kiki and I love all kinds of fiction. I've mostly stayed with classic American Literature (I used to be a Lit major), but I love sci-fi and I have read a lot of sci-fi/fantasy/historical romance. I am pretty hyper critical, though. I can't help it.

I'm hoping to start reading with the group next month, but since I'm broke it's all up to whether or not they have the books in at the library. I tend to be a slower reader, so I am a little worried about being able to keep up and actually finish the books in a month, but having a deadline tends to light a fire under my ass.

I just really wanted an escape from the stress of school, and this seemed like such a fun, welcoming community and the books seem like great escapist writing, so I'm really looking forward to it.

message 605: by Alexa (new)

Alexa Dinnago (sagacitylust) | 2 comments Hello Kiki!!! *wave-wave* I was like you way back in school about 3 years ago. I contented myself with the library books since I can't acquire the one's I like at that time.

Now, I'm 22 and working as an offshore employee for a foreign company for about 2yrs and 4 month's.

I dip in different genres but I mostly read fiction/paranormal/regency/mystery/investigative and children's books.

Reading really gets my head off of work stuff and It's a relief. Just so you know, the time I get nightmares about work? I'm quitting (quitting work, not reading XD)

message 606: by Splodygirl (new)

Splodygirl | 4 comments Hi everyone! I joined a few weeks ago and lurked around - finally figured it was time to say hello. My name's Karla but I've been Splody to my friends for years. I first ran into VF through Geek & Sundry, and loved how smart and funny and creative all of the ladies were. I've always had a deep love for genre fiction - fantasy in all of its forms, science fiction, horror, with bodice rippers proving a special guilty pleasure. Can't wait to find new authors, and make new friends.

H.A. Kotys | 21 comments Hello all the new peeps. Seems we have all temperatures of books discussed here from those that just make your fingers tingle to those that need oven gloves before you can handle your e-reader. I'm sure you'll find more of what you like. :)

message 608: by Gina (new)

Gina Briganti | 78 comments Hello! If you're worried about keeping up with the rest of the group, don't be. The discussion threads aren't deleted and members continue to post there long after the book's 'month' is over.

Welcome to the group. I know you'll like it here.

I have been following the Vaginal Fantasy Hangouts (love the girls) for some months now but this is the first time I'm posting in the forum. I read my first VG book a couple of months ago and I really enjoyed listening to the gang talking about it. Keep up the amazing work girls!

Looking forward to the next shows.

Cathal Stockdale | 21 comments Hi All,
My name is Cathal from just south of Dublin, Ireland. Started following VFH when i seen a retweet of the review of Magic Bites (had already read it and loved the series). Have started watching over the old episodes and love them. I hope to get to talk to more of people here in the coming months,

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) | 124 comments I hadn't really introduced myself yet, so here y'all are:

description

That's me from last weekend at the Texas Renaissance Festival.

I'm a blogger, mother, book pimp, church secretary (yeah, the congregation has no clue about what a freak I really am- please don't tell them), finder of lost things, dress up in costume at the drop of a hat, attend author signings like it's my job, Minecraft, help my husband blog about Minecraft, make resin doo-dads, work on our costumes, geocache, influence my 6 year-old to sing things like "My anaconda don't want none unless you got buns, hun"- at least it's the Bluegrass version... watch Doctor Who (I have since I was in Elementary School), quote The Princess Bride... basically doing what I can to keep Austin weird and South Austin weirder. Howdy!

I'm Ashleigh, I got into VF hangouts randomly -well one day I was browsing net flicks and found the guild, then looked it up and found co-optitude , then some how from there to VF so not really randomly.
Anyways I'm from the UK (Wales) and really excited about chatting and seeing other people's opinions on some good great and not so greats books !

Veronica (readingonthefly) Hi, my name is Veronica and I live in San Antonio, Tx. I've been a GR member for a few years now but only came across this group after watching the vlog for Kushiel's Dart (which was a BOM selection for another GR group). So now here I am! :)

message 618: by Annabel (new)

Annabel (boekenwormmom) | 3 comments Hello, My name is Annabel I'm 30 years old and I'm from the Netherlands. ( is there a Dutch group? probably not haha ) I just joined this group. I love reading, I love fantasy books and Historical fiction books. I'm a mother of 2 beautiful daughters. I came across all this because I saw Felicia Day in Supernatural and I just looked her up on the internet and found Geek & Sundry. So from there I found out about this book club. and decided to look it up on Goodreads and here I am. I guess that's it.

message 619: by Kate (new)

Kate (kilotangobravo) | 27 comments Hi, I'm Kate, I'm 29! I've been watching Vaginal Fantasy on YouTube and I just love it, every episode manages to make me laugh. I joined the group because although I've had a GoodReads account forever, I've never interacted with anybody! And that's just ridiculous, because I love talking about books.

I'm really looking forward to getting involved!

message 620: by Monica (new)

Monica | 22 comments Hai everybuddy! I'm Monica Baker/Monique Boulanger. (Monica Baker is my pen name) I'm the author of Wild Hunt by Saga Press, I also really enjoy reading, so Hello everybuddy. Can't wait to get to know you.

message 621: by Sparrow Knight (new)

Sparrow Knight Hi, I came across VF on YouTube because I have been watching Felicia play through Grimrock 2 & VF kept showing up on the side bar. I got curious, watched a couple of episodes & enjoyed the banter.

I gotta say, I am not the least interested in the most recent picks...not urban fantasy, not high fantasy, not sci fi, not even magical realism...I've no interest in main market romance, especially poorly reviewed ones. What happened?!

Guess I'll go back & read/watch some of the previous books. Anyway, hoping VF gets back to fantasy, etc. books.

message 622: by Giovanna (new)

Giovanna Donnithorne-tait | 3 comments Hey all,
I've been reading the club for quite a few months without signing up, and finally decided to join.

Since I've had plenty of long distance flights last year, and will have more long distance flights in the upcoming year, I tend to read quite a bit. I'm also always looking for new reads, so this club and site actually is one of the best addresses for me...

My latest reads have been in this genre here the Kushiel Series, Black Jewels Trilogy, Marine Werewolves, The Anna Kronberg Crimes (absolutely loved them, and recommend them to Sherlock Holmes fans, and who like to have a real twist to it!) and then several others not quite in this genre (pretty much the complete Valdemar Series, Obsidian & Phoenix Trilogies, The 500 Kingdoms, and the Elemental Masters from Mercedes Lackey, No Angel & Fang Girl by Helen Keeble, Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson, etc. ... I... read a bit, mostly fantasy ;) )

That being said, I'm a 29-for-the-4th-time German, living and travelling the USA, and about to relocate to Australia. I enjoy RPG (my husband and I run a high quality RPG server, based on the NWN1 base game out of our basement), Play-by-Post, Pen and Paper, etc., enjoy horses and horse back riding, live happily ever after and always put my cats before everything else (and it's a shame I haven't mentioned them before this ;) I am sure they'll have me do penance shortly).

I'm looking forward to continuing reading and writing and discussing within the club and and without,

All the bestest and Happy New Year!

G.

message 623: by Sparrow Knight (new)

Sparrow Knight I just finished Sanderson's Radiance books & just loved them! So fist bump there!

I'm a bit of a Sherlock fan, so I'll have to check out Anna Kronberg Crimes. Thanks for that lead.

Have you read Bear's New Amsterdam series? Not much in the way of romance, but lovely alt. history, fantasy mysteries.

message 625: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (aglaranna) Hi, I'm Kim, 27, and from the Netherlands. I recently found Felicia's VF channel on YouTube, after binge-watching Supernatural in about 1,5 month, and I loved it from the start, so I decided to join on Goodreads as well!

I love books and talking about books, much to the annoyance of my friends (who don't read much or at all..). My favorite genres are fantasy (mainly epic fantasy, I've read it all), romance, the classics, and lately some non-fiction as well.

Can't wait to get to get involved here and get to know some new, awesome people!

message 626: by Dianna (new)

Dianna (maxwellmamadee) Hi all, I'm Dianna, from West Virginia, in the USA. I have only recently discovered the Vaginal Fantasy book club and once I did I couldn't wait to join. I'm currently reading this month's pick, "Wolfsbane and Mistletoe" and there are some stories I've really enjoyed and some that I skip after a few pages. I love to read and really enjoy the fantasy novels.

I'll be sharing this fun book club at my local library and hopefully several more people will join in my local area. If there is anyone else on here in the WV area, let me know. I tend to be the only one from my state in most any online group that interests me.

Can't wait to get more involved with the group and get to know more people.

message 627: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Jeffreys (staceyjeffreys) | 5 comments Hi there! My name is Stacey. I live in rural Michigan. I am the proud mother of two donkeys, two goats, three dogs, one cat and a varying number of bunnies. I love to read but sadly haven't always had the time. For the New Year, I am making reading a top priority. I need the escape. I prefer fantasy, science fiction, paranormal romance, young adult and urban fantasy but ultimately will read almost anything put in front of me (I'm looking at you, shampoo bottle!). I look forward to finding new books and authors to love from all of you.

Ashley | 6 comments Howdy all,

Long time Youtube lurker, first time poster. I'm Ashley and I currently live in London.

Ever since I discovered Louisa Burton during a road trip in the summer of 2007, I've been hooked on smutty books. I'm thrilled to find a group to hang out and chat about them. Personal favourites include cheesy romance, over-the-top fantasy, and bewitchingly strong female leads.

Looking forward to the group!

message 629: by C.V. (new)

C.V. Larkin | 15 comments Hi everyone,

I'm C.V. and I'm still getting used to conversing and participating here on Goodreads, so please bear with me. :)
Let's see. I live in New England and am currently snowed into my house, thus making this one of my very favorite Mondays. I'm one of those freaks who doesn't mind shoveling and gets giddy at the forecast of a good snowstorm. It's peculiar. I'm aware. It also gives me the perfect excuse to curl up with a few books and my furry canine minions.
I'm a writer and an avid reader. I read everything I can get my grubby mitts on, but urban fantasy and paranormal romance have always had a special place in my heart. The idea of old mythologies in modern places never ceases to capture my imagination. I love getting book recommendations and chatting about the latest stories I've read. I'm looking forward to hearing and interacting with all of you!

message 631: by Netanya (new)

Netanya (netanyac) | 6 comments So I started reading and watching the videos two months after they started and read everything up to soulless. But then I got pregnant and had a baby so I've literally just not had time to read at all. But now baby is 8 months old and I'm going on holiday so I've decided to rejoin the vf world and get some smutty reading done! I'm very excited to start. My kindle is all set up with the story of o and bared to you. Now I just need to get someone to nap so I can get some reading done :)

message 632: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello :)
My name is Aleksandra and I'm from Poland. I've known VF for quite some time, but only now my language skills allow me to understand what our wonderful hosts are saying.
I love fantasy books, video games and I'm a huge manga&anime fan. I'm really happy I can join such a fantastic community ^_^

message 633: by Sydney (new)

Sydney Jones (SydneyJones) | 4 comments Hi, I'm Sydney. What can I say, but I love to read and write. I am re-reading Great Expectations for the millionth time because it is my favorite romance. I prefer the original ending because Pip stopped being a tool and had the girl of his dreams take a hike. However, the fans of the day didn't like a realistic ending, so he made the alternate ending for their pleasure. I joined the group as a writer to get feedback from avid readers. I look forward to your comments so I can perfect my writing skills. My short story "Lois Lane's Dirty Diary" is available for you to check out. Hope to hear from you.

message 635: by Mara (new)

Mara Hello,

I'm Cal, I'm 28 and I currently live in Toronto. I prefer fantasy/urban fantasy genres. I'll generally give anything a try, except science fiction, those have always been harder for me to get into, though I have read all Douglas Adams' works.

I'm an avid forum lurker and I'm trying to break myself out of that and I'm looking forward to some fun reads:)

message 636: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Murdaugh-Smith (pamelamurdaugh-smith) Greetings!

My name is Pamela, I've been on GR for several months, still working my way around and checking out groups of interest. I stumbled across one of the threads 'Why not Femdom' and lingered for a bit, looked at a few more and then decided to join. The female lead in my mc erotica series fits the remarks I read in the 'femdom' forum, so I kinda felt at home. You know, like minded souls and all. She starts out the victim, but by the second book, she's a force! Anyway, I'm rambling not plugging (sorry!). I'm thinking if I hang around maybe I could learn a thing or two from you guys :)

message 638: by Alysia (new)

Alysia Younce (mommatoavi) Hi! My name is Alysia. I've been on goodreads for awhile but never used it, and decided to finally jump on in. This was the first group I stumbled on that fits my reading style :).
I'm a single mom in Maryland with a full time job, so I read whenever I can, which is usually after the toddler goes to bed and during my lunch breaks at work. My favorite series are Outlander and the Darkfever series. Already from stalking the threads here my wishlist to read has skyrocketed!

message 639: by Amber (new)

Amber Rellim (AmberRellim) | 6 comments Hello fellow readers of tough chicks and smoky goodness!

My name is Amber and I'm trying to stick my foot (More like kick) into the publishing realm of ebooks. I'm currently working on a story but at the same time wanted to meet people who have similar interests in the books that I read.

I love Karen Marie Moning and Patricia Briggs and eat up every book they release. My current book I love that still makes me sizzled hot is Shadow Fever. My little toes still curl when I read this book from time to time. :D

Would love to pick everyone's brains and get critique as well as suggestions on what else I should be reading.

Maria (missmia277) | 44 comments Hi all,

I'm Maria. I live in Fort Collins and go to CSU as an ECE Major. Yay! I joined the book club last month. I clicked on Felica's link on twitter and the rest is history.

I love reading. I started with my love of reading with fantasy, but have been so focused on more canon and contemporary genres that I missed it. Hopefully this book club makes me read more than just those genres.

Can't wait to chat with you all.

HGB (thathesterchick) | 1 comments Howdy.

I'm Hester. I'm 29, and from Florida. I've been on a fanfiction kick lately, but I think it's time I got back into reading books.

I recently joined Goodreads. Trying to decide if I should go back and rate books I remember reading, or just stick to rating recent reads.

Here are my latest purchases from the Alachua County Friend's of the Library spring sale: https://instagram.com/p/2E-d5HPySi/ . The top I got for half price yesterday (so $1.50 from $3) and the rest were from today's dime day.

Mandy Stone (deliciouslycomplicated) | 3 comments Hi everyone! I'm Mandy from South Carolina! I'm 27 and have bipolar and fibromyalgia, so am trying to get that situation under control. I'm looking to move to Seattle though, so that's fun. :) I'm a musician, trained to sing classically, but write contemporary music. I've always loved to read, ESPECIALLY romance novels, but when my fibro kicked in bad, I just couldn't concentrate or focus anymore enough to actually sit down to read. It sucked hardcore and was like a dagger to the heart. I've slowly getting back into reading and look forward to reading some fun and funny and good books!

message 645: by Kellianne (new)

Kellianne (ellikanne) Hi! I'm Kellianne and live in the Eugene area of Oregon. I'm 38 years old. I've been reading these kind of books since I was a wee child, and a huge fan of Felicia Day for years now. I'm not sure what took me so long to join the book group, but here I am! I've followed quite a few of you on the Twitter Handles thingy, so if you get a request from a weird person, it's probably me! I'm off to read some more! k

Wandered into the group when my husband told me that Felicia Day had a group that read books in the "vaginal fantasy" category now that I've got stuck into the Outlander book series. Looking for suggestions that keep me from re-reading Outlander too many times. :) Live in Cambridge, UK.

Hi Libbi. You can find lists of the previous months VF picks on the bookshelf or the wiki. Also, there are lots of great suggestions on this thread and listopia.

message 649: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Hey y'all -- I think I signed up for VF right when it was created, but haven't participated in read-alongs until now. I saw that we are reading dinosaur erotica and my Jurassic Park loving self had to get in on that. I typically prefer ghost stories, horror, and mysteries to fantasy lit. I am getting back into sci fi more lately. I'm 34, a former college reading/writing teacher, and reading is probably my #1 fave thing. I listen to a lot of books on Audible. Glad to be here.

message 650: by Heather (new)

Heather | 2 comments Hi everyone, I'm Heather. I am a wife and mother of 3, I live in a fairly remote area so reading is about my only opportunity for adventure :)

My favorite romance sub-genres are historical, steampunk and Paranormal; if I can get paranormal paired up with either of the first two it's a win-win. I love the Elizabeth/Darcy type relationships. Something about the whole enemy to lovers thing get me.

My favorite authors are Kristen Callihan and Bec McMaster

Look forward to finding some great books with help from the group!
