I do love comics, but i'm especially loving how offbeat and darkly comical this one is. It's like Twin Peaks in comic form. And listening to Stars new album while reading it makes for an even more disorienting experience...

Finished Looking for Alaska, which was pure awesomeness, although the narrator went in and out between funny, easy to read sentences to big, thought provoking deep paragraphs randomly. I also started The Fault in Our Stars, The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom and The Order of Odd-Fish.

I have just finished up the first two books Darcy Town's fantastic series that starts with Wastes of Space
the third book Waste not Want not should be out this month and I cannot wait!

She is an unexpected find and highly entertaining author ~ can't say enough good things!

HIghly recommend her Morningstar series too. You won't regret it!
I couldn't put her books down!

just finished The Crowded Grave: A Mystery of the French Countryside and highly recommend series.
Just started In the Woods. So far writing is impeccable. She describes summertime thru the eyes of a 12 year old perfectly in the opening paragraphs. looking forward to reading this.

I've started the sequel, The Likeness, but I'm not that far into it yet -- pretty much just gotten the setup of the case so far. I'm also reading Luna, which I've had out from the library for quite some time.

I am in the middle of The War of Don Emmanuel's Nether Parts by Louis de Bernières. Really loving it. It seems he wrote 2 more books after this which are linked, though not a trilogy. The more I read Bernieres the more I like his style. I have the other two also lined up on my book shelf.

I'm so glad you're loving that one, Ismaa. It's one of my all-time favourites. All three are good, but that first one was fantastic. It had a much greater sense of satire I think, too.

I started reading Paint It Black by Janet Fitch, which was depressing but interesting, then I picked up a book of my friends' last night Women by Charles Bukowski and was initially intrigued but the story of a drunk in dysfunctional relationships started getting depressing also. Not sure if I will finish either.

I've been reading House of Leaves when I'm in Townsville and The Seducer on Kindle while I'm travelling. But I've gotten to a point where I REALLY want to start taking House of Leaves with me.

I'm currently trying to think what I can leave behind in its place, since there is such a strict weight limit on this particular regional airline. Damn you, heavy work laptop!!

Hello, I just joined this site and this group. I'm reading: In the foreign legion by Erwin Rosen. Goodreads doesn't seem to know it, maybe because it was published in 1910 and it's not famous. I got it from project gutenberg. I'm halfway through it and I like it. It's a good humoured, pleasant read which gives interesting insights into a strange society and a relatively recent past. His writing style is very modern though.

Finished Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War. It was crap, on the level of the "Super Mario Bros." film, only less campy and fun.

Tried actually reading Ready Player One, but had a hard time sticking with it, so I'll be listening to the glorious Wil Wheaton read it to me instead.

It's a newer printing but sounds like the same book. An ebook edition can always be added, too.

Finished Iron Council, which took me forever to read and never really gripped me. Its a very poor book compared to the previous 2. Finished also The Golden Compass and I'm all ready for the discussion. I liked it alot, at some point I just couldnt put it down and the pages melted away - I'm excited over reading the next two, hopefully they'll be as good.

Still munching on Anna Karenina, I'm enjoying it alot more than I thought I would. Some bits drive me crazy, like Levins farmwork in excruciating detail, but overall it is an interesting story.

Started today Something Wicked This Way Comes, such a bizarre writing style :D

Just finished The Scar (love Mieville) and Cloud Atlas. For those of you reading the Atlas, stick with it. It's good once you get into the rhythm.

Super indeed. Such a compelling character ... It may be the sword :) But I admired his stoicism, or that weird nature that put him beyond stoic.
