Hayley | 7 comments ok scrap that, ive just found 7 lol!
have you read all 7 DarkHeart??
xx

message 254: by Shanon (new)

Shanon (boban) I've read all 7 of the Morganville books & enjoyed them all. I was really into the story and characters. It would probably be one of my favorite series if it wasn't for all the cliff-hanger endings. I kept wishing there was another chapter or two (or three) to wrap things up at the end of several of the books.

Overall - a great series & a great recommendation

I'm abit of a helpless romantic, do they have a love story in them??
xx

Shanon (boban) They do have romance (I don't remember much being in the 1st book though - but I could be mistaken). They are considered Young Adult so there is no sex. At least not yet :)

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) How have you guys read all 7 Morganville Vamps book. It's only up to book 5 . Book six will be released in June and Book 7 in November. Let me in on your secret since I love this series.

message 259: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1831 comments Lol. I think Shanon just got carried away due to her love of the series. She wishes she had the next 2 in hand. I agree, Morganville is great. Very well-paced, well-crafted, good plots and a healthy dose of darkness. As for the romance, it's on the sweet side because the characters are still late teens.

I hear you Shanon on the cliff-hanger endings. Kills me! But in that fiending for a fix kinda' way! Not too long to wait now!

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1831 comments Gil's All Fright Diner was high-larious. Loved it.

HA! I've read all that are out. I can't believe I didn't double check that number!

message 262: by Shanon (new)

Shanon (boban) Or... maybe I have an in with Rachel Caine??? I wish!

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) Don't we all Shanon! LOL that would definitely be sweet.

message 264: by Gina (new)

Gina You can read chapter one of book six on her website right now if you need to know where things are going in Morganville after book 5. But I warn you, it will only make you want book 6 more if you are a fan.

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) LOL that is exactly why I don't read those chapters.

message 266: by Shanon (new)

Shanon (boban) I can't read the teaser chapters either. It makes me a little obsesed with wanting to know what is going to happen because they always create more questions then answers.

message 267: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1831 comments Eh, she ends on a cliff hanger anyway, even without the chapter 1 sneak peek! Read it!

(Peer pressure at work.)

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) LOL not doing Michelle , I can wait besides I 'm not even reading my challenges books. I'm on hiatus which means I'll have to grind at the end to finish.

Come on June!

message 271: by Yasmin (new)

Yasmin (tiayas) | 5 comments Um, not in the genre but I'm reading Lipstick Jungle by Candace Bushnell. Put it on hold when I got my copy of White Witch, Black Curse from the library.

I also just picked up Ann Aguirre's next Jax novel Wanderlust.

message 272: by Hayley (new)

Hayley | 7 comments I've just ordered Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampires, Glass Houses thanks to Darkheart's recomendation.
Am very excited for it's arrival.
Shall keep ya posted on my verdict!

Yasmin (tiayas) | 5 comments I never do well on these threads. I end up adding more books to my TB bought list and not getting through the ones that I already have at home!

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) LOL I just counted my e-books 212 and counting and the books sitting on my night stands and tv please. I'm trying to stop buying but it doesn't work If a store I'm in has a book section I'm there.

message 275: by Yasmin (new)

Yasmin (tiayas) | 5 comments I also got an email from B&N about their bargin book sale. I just said no.

I have the whole Sookie Stackhouse series that I'm jumping into next, as well.

Anyone read the Odd Thomas series? I listened to the first one and really liked it.

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Yasmin wrote: "I also got an email from B&N about their bargin book sale. I just said no."

I looked through the selection briefly and I don't think you missed anything.

message 277: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1831 comments Yeah, Nichole, so did I. There were one or two that tempted me, of course, but not much.

Not this genre, but has anyone ever read a Maisie Dobbs mystery? That was one I contemplated buying.

Ive read Odd Thomas and I really liked it. I haven't heard about a new one coming out anytime soon though. The last one kinda had an ending I'm curious about.

Have you read any of Koontz's other works? He's pretty good, very reminiscent of Stephen King in my opinion but not quite as creepy lol.

Ooh... I hope you like it. I warn you though that each book immediately leads into the next, so if you do like it, you'll have to go out and immediately buy them all! ;)

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 437 comments I finished Stray yesterday and really enjoyed it - although I seem to be in the minority of those reading it this month.

Today I'm making a start on La Vida Vampire, as a change from the shifters. The feedback on this one has been quite positive, so I'm looking forward to it.

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 187 comments I'm in the middle of Rachel Vincent's Stray, and so far, just like you, DarkHeart, I'm enjoying it. It's a pretty long book, though. I find the Pride's dynamic interesting, although it's a world, i definitely don't want to be a female in.

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) LOL @ YZ yeah I thought stray was a long book as well and really didn't want to read it but once I started I couldn't stop.

Yeah, at 600 odd pages I figured it would take me a few days to get through, but happily my husband was content to sit in front of his Xbox all day Sunday so I spent the day reading. It was an oddly quick read for its size, I think because it has that quality that makes it difficult to put down.

But yes, Faythe certainly doesn't have it easy as a female. I think she's going to change things up though. Oh, and rather than being horrified by Marc as some others were, I thought he was a yummy alpha male.

message 284: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments I am reading Tribute by Nora Roberts and as soon as I finish that I will move on to Swallowing Darkness (Meredith Gentry 7)

message 285: by Clorinda (new)

Clorinda | 31 comments Hi All, I'm currently reading The Vampire Queen's Servant. So far I'm conflicted. Some parts I love others I'm not so sure about. I would really like a good werewolf/shifter story so any suggestions? I've read the Mercy Series, Sookie Series, Rachel Vincents books.

message 286: by Shanon (new)

Shanon (boban) I definately second Shazzy's recommendation. It's a great series!

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 437 comments I second Shazzy's recommendation. The Kate Daniels series is one of my favorites, and Magic Strikes has been my favorite release of the year so far.

You have to pick up Pack Challenge, Go Fetch and Here Kitty Kitty by Shelley Laurenston. Her shifter books are steamy and funny rolled into one. I recomended getting all three because once you finish the first you're going to need the next. I think Conall and Micki's story was the best(Go Fetch!)

message 289: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments Clorinda - you can try the Kitty Norville series by Carrie Vaughn. There's also Caitlin Kittredge's series about Luna. But that series is definitely alot darker than the others. Some like it and others don't have the taste for it. Hope that helps.

message 290: by Clorinda (new)

Clorinda | 31 comments Thank you ladies for all the suggestions. I went and picked up Magic Bites last night. I'm going to start it tonight. I read the first chapter at the bookstore and I love it.
Jael==I've already read all of Shelly Laurenston's books including her dragon series. Love them. I think you should check out her Pride books if you get a chance. "The Beast in Him" is fantastic.
Jess==I've read the Kitty Norville series as well. She is so spunky and down to earth you gotta love her. Thanks for the reccomendation.

message 291: by Susan (new)

Susan (ofearna) I'm reading the new one from Rob Thurman and it's kinda disconcerting to have chapters by Niko... kinda miss the sarcasm that is Cal

message 297: by Clorinda (new)

Clorinda | 31 comments So I started and finished Magic Bites yesterday. I LOVED IT! You ladies are the "ish". I have to force myself to finish writing my paper for school then I'm running to pick up Magic Burns and Magic Strikes. Thanks for the recommendation. I will try the Kitteredge books next week.

message 298: by [deleted user] (new)

I finally started on Rush of Wings. I'm only one chapter in, so not idea how it will be, but Im hopeful.

message 299: by [deleted user] (new)

Re-reading City of Glass because I've run out of books. It's no great hardship--COG is wunnerful. One of my favourite HEAs to date, I think.

message 300: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Run out of books? How is this possible? I'm drowning in them. Come over to my house, you'll never lack. They've very subtlely started their complete take over and will soon have me enslaved.
