I have so many books to read in May that I'm having trouble picking out which ones to read!

If you have any intention of watching the Mist movie, do so BEFORE you read the novella that ope..."
I've already watched the movie. I thought it was pretty good. In my opinion, movies are hardly ever as good as the books they are based on.

Just finished the audio book of Prince Of Twilight. It was really bad. Granted, its book 12 in the series and I haven't read the others, so maybe I'm just missing some of the magic or whatever. But, it was bad. The characters and their actions were just totally illogical, and I'm willing to beleive that people will do some pretty illogical things when love's involved. I just couldn't wrap my mind around it all. I will say that the narrator was excellent. I would definatley listen to more of his books, just not these ones.

DEAD AND GONE, DEAD AND GONE!! lol. after all my whining, I ended up buying the damn hardcover anyway. It was haunting me when I went into BN. I just had to get it.

I agree about the men and I've just read the first book. I'm looking forward to seeing what other characters are in the next books.

Read Dead & Gone Tuesday night... who needs sleep?
On my TBR shelf is the next (two next?) Galenorn books and one of her tea-cozy mysteries.

Too many books!! and not enough time.

i'm no good with too many books::can't multi-task (uuuurgh how i hate that word)either lol::at the moment i'm reading Ink Exchange::and have two Emma Hollys that i've started but in no way near to finishing::

I bought Crimson City at a yardsale the other day, but I haven't started it. I'll probably tackle that next week sometime. Right now working through Dancing With Werewolves
I finally finished Dead and Gone and Lover Avenged. Both of which were just excellent, as I expected them to be. Now, I am seriously going to concentrate on school.

I don't know those writers, but it sounds like we are interested in the same writing styles. I'm new too btw. I am a huge fan of the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton and the Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison. They both are pretty witty. I'm going to go check out your book shelves. I'm currently reading Kelly Armstrong, but I don't recommend her for witty and great characters. She has okay characters and a decent story that isn't completely out there, but she's not amazing in my opinion.

If you haven't read JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood you must! BEST SERIES for paranormal romance, she takes you into their world...

PNR or paranormal romance is more defined by the clear HEA or Happily Ever After at the end of the book.

Never having read the Anita Blake books, you'll have to take my opinion with a grain of salt. But I have read 3 of the Merry Gentry books, so if they're similar...
I think they're just straight urban fantasy with a lot of sex. From what I understand, erotica is more defined as having lots of sex, BUT those sex scenes have to have explicit terminology, not euphemisms. If she's using flowery language and not explicit words, then it's not erotica. It's still just urban fantasy, with more sex than most.
(I would give examples, but I'm not sure if *everyone* reading this thread would feel comfortable with it. But think anatomically correct terminology, and also sort-of crude slang terms, many of which begin with the letter C. Or perhaps P.)

I don't know if this will help, but some people in the group had a discussion awhile ago about the differences between PNR and Uf, just go to the link above and it will bring you to the thread.

I agree with Nichole here. Anita Blake is definitely urban fantasy that just happens to have a lot of sex.

Yea I agree. I didn't mean that it was Paranormal Romance, but just that if you were reading a book for lots of sex with some good interaction relationship stuff Anita Blake has plenty of that. I don't want to give anything away so I can't be very descriptive, but lets just say you better not think the Twilight books have lots of sex in them if you're going to read Anita Blake. Ha ha... You'd be scared for life if you did.
Another way to explain it is my father told me to stop reading at the fourth or fifth book before it got to bad and our relationship has been slightly 'irritated' ever since I finished the series. He looks at me funny if we bring up the topic and has a hard time dealing with it since I'm his sweet little girl.

The sex gets progressively steamier in every book (in both series). I can't help but wonder what's coming next.
